If you read the directions, it says to heat up the grill 10 minutes prior to adding meat/fish. And you're supposed to turn it on 2 seconds on the first setting, then on the On setting, which is an "l".

Although I ready have an indoor grill(the foreman one), I find this to be really cool, and I'd love to try using it one day. I just wish the surface area of the grill was larger and it had more than one temp, especially for the price.

I actually did buy this on Prime day and with an Amazon gift card I had so I only ended up paying $60 out of pocket. It’s very easy to use, and somehow mimics the effect of an outdoor PROPANE grill very well. Nice char, instant heat, fun to use and some parts are easy to clean. (The inside itself is not you need Tongs and a towel but it will never be 100% after the first use) However, it melted my outlet which has been used to power MANY MANY large kitchen gadgets and tools before. I came here to see if that happened to anyone else...

I didn't realize this was an infrared grill. Super expensive, but it might be worth it if it comes close to outside grills. Now I have to see if there are any other indoor infrared grills. This definitely is the best indoor grill I've seen. Infrared is a game changer.

@@justingodin7806 I ended up buying this one. I don't know if there are any other new models out there, I'd check. But this one is good, but it still has its flaws. From my experience, there is no such thing as smokeless with any grill, including this one, so be prepared for that. I wish that this one had a cover, I feel all grills should. But still, the cooking power of this one is excellent. When I can't use my outside grill in the winter, I take this one out and put it to work. Grease drops below away from food so it is grilled and not fried unlike some other grills. Leaves excellent grill marks. Hope info helps.

There actually called, "Smoke-Less", NOT "Smokeless" grill because it WILL smoke, but just less. About 10, 11 years ago I got a DeLonghi smokeless grill as a present, never opened it until last year. A friend of mine was retiring from work and they wanted me to grill some burgers, brats, and hotdogs for a going away party. I live in ND and it was the end of March, beginning of April and was still really cold, kinda snowy that day. So I wasn't going to fire up my grill outside. So I took that DeLonghi out of the box and read the instructions and turned it on. That one you put water on the bottom, it also has a flavor enhancer in the middle where in can add stuff in, I put some wine and liquid smoke. That one is called smokeless because the water on the bottom won't let it smoke, and it has a cover too. It also has a variable temp on it so you can adjust the temp. I was surprised how many burgers I could fit on it, and how fast it cooked the food. Easy clean up, not as easy as this one, but everything can be thrown into a dish washer. It costs less than this unit, and with the variable temp, I personally think it's a better buy. It also has a cover you can put on it as a "grease splatter guard", and the cover helps keep the flavor and moister in. I was going to post this on your George Foreman indoor/outdoor grill ans a better alternative. But since you put this up, I think the DeLonghi is a better buy in the long run than this one, again, this is just my opinion. But you should check out one of those and compare it to this one.

Found the DeLonghi on Amazon and HSN, thinking I might buy one, however my question is does food taste about the same as frying in a skillet/pan? I have had food cooked on an infrared grill and it was really good although nothing beats charcoal IMHO. I'd rather not waste money on something that doesn't give me an elevated taste over stovetop cooking. I make a mean steak on the stove. Thanks for any input you can share.

@jeffstanley4593
@jeffstanley4593 6 жыл бұрын
Of course you could do that. I sous vide meat 98% of the time. I sear on a pan but you can sear on a grill if you want to. You could sear on a stick over a fire for that matter. Searing is just the application of high heat in order to cauterize the surface of a food. Which, by the way has been shown NOT to help the containment of juice at all.
@fuzzyscarfandmittens4772
@fuzzyscarfandmittens4772 6 жыл бұрын
Best way to put on a final sear is to get yourself a chimney starter, throw in your charcoal and get it nice and hot. Put a grill over top and thirty seconds per side, flip it twice so it's one minute of high heat grilling per side. It gives some of that smoky flavor you only get from charcoal. Or you can get a Searzall which is pretty fun. But for convenience I still say a cast iron skillet that is screaming hot and a touch of butter is all you need.
@jeffstanley4593
@jeffstanley4593 6 жыл бұрын

As mentioned by others; If it's smokeless, why bother? If 'grill marks' is all that is desired, get a branding iron and place it directly on a burner/flame. To me, marks are only eye candy. I grill to get that delicious smoke into the food(I prefer charcoal or pellets). I'll pass on this and it's cousins. Use it to toast marshmallows or wieners.

I was thinking of purchasing this or the grill that goes on the stove. I feel with the stove grill you get more of a splatter mess. I never used neither. Any help would be appreciated thanks

So is there anything that you can use inside that tastes like it was grilled? I need something for my work boat as grilling outside when its windy is impossible and its almost always windy! Also the outdoor grill has hot spots and cold spots which reduce the amount of space as well..

You're not gonna believe this. I found both products interesting, so I looked up the prices. I got prices from the manufacturers; I thought it would be more fair. The George Foreman grill costs $100, (but they don't ship outside the continental USA.) The Phillips grill costs $500! (I don't think they ship internationally, either.) Myself, I'd think twice before getting either unit.

It cost $275.00 or less.. What ever place you saw it for $500, you should report them.

Good review. If you can grill a chuck roast on it and have it coming up looking good, and being eatable, is a good pitch that it can do the job. Have you looked at the Kenyon indoor grill? It is suppose to be smokeless (as appose to the Philips "smoke-less"). I've been wanting an indoor grill. So far the Philips and Kenyon are at the top of my list, with the Philips edging out the Kenyon in regards to price (the Kenyon is about twice as much as the Philips). One comment mentioned the DeLonghi smokeless indoor gill, I'll have to check that one out.

@Bonnie Cull WRONG!!! Anybody with any cooking knowledge knows NOT to pour grease down your drain. Not trying to be a jerk, I've done plumbing jobs where their drains were clogged with grease, hair & lots of other smelly nasty stuff. Grease traps all debris, (it's sticky) & clogs everything...
@fobbitoperator3620

@Bonnie Cull Well, to each his/her own. You'll likely think differently that moment your drain clogs up, & you need that plumber to clear it out, for however many 100s of $$, if not actually replace all the piping. Apropos: I've seen a TON of Ramsey videos & shows, & never once observed him pouring grease down the drain. But that's me...

I grill chuck roast all the time BUT you must finish it in a crock pot or the oven in a sealed pan to get it tender. It must get to over 200 degrees to be tender or otherwise it is like shoe leather
