Agree, I work in product marketing. Its rare I get a physical promotional piece in the mail today and when I do I always remember the sender. Direct mail marketing is a lost art.

Nikos...in the age of digital, the physicality of mailed hardgoods/swag in a creative way is massively memorable.

Hello, Philip. Thank you for your advice. What you say resonates with me. I have always found direct marketing and personal selling to work better than social media forums. People interacting with people physically, and the ability to engage them directly regarding a service is of the utmost importance. Warm regards, George (South Africa)

Great video, Philip! I was looking at sending my books to prospects along with a handwritten letter. Not sure if that's good enough but will see how it goes. Thanks.

Such a helpful video with great ideas. I’m about to market my video branding services to luxury home contractors. Your video made me think of stamping my logo on carpenter pencils to send with my letter of introduction. Sure enough, a quick Google search produced a company that sells custom logo, colorful carpenter pencils (Graphite Pen & Pencil). Thanks to your video, I know this simple idea will be profitable. You’re the best!

This was really cool and useful. Getting frustrated with trying to figure out how to get a foot in the door (I'm in the NYC market). I already work with a third-party manufacturer for my Etsy shop. Seems like it could be fun and noticeable to create a few products to give to choice companies I really want to work with. Going to give directer-mailers a try.

Hi Philip, great presentation as always, (I would hire you in a moment, but then again we are the same.) This subject transports me back to the 80-90's technique from students trying to break into the scene, simply trying to stand out, and honestly, it is the refreshment needed at the moment in the market. I hope it helps the up-and-comers to rethink their approach. Love your work, mate, always a pleasure.

Brendan, Digital and volume communications have their limits - and TBH I think we have all met our digital attention span threshold these days. I know I have. Receiving these promotions, even the Hot Wheels car, as low-fi as it was was super effective - and that's coming from a seriously jaded marketing dude.

Where I work we do a lot of 3D (digital twins, images in general etc) but also digital design experiences (web, apps, AR & VR). I don't see how any of this can work for an agency like us - we're not an ad + marketing agency so sending out physical branded and quirky stuff won't get our message across.
