Hate both teams seeing they are division rivals, but i gotta give respect where it's due and the Phils earned it: underdog 2 years in a row and both times beating the Braves, the favorite who had the best regular season record. At least the Phillies know how to show up in the Playoffs...hopefully my METS can return to glory days like this soon.

We could have won game 4 we had the bases loaded and in the 9th inning we had two guys on base with no outs…… we simply just didn’t want to win strider came through yea him and fried gave up some runs but the other pitches gave up 4 runs in two innings… the Phillies were the better team this series no excuse

Braves big bats weren’t swinging well. They were trying to hit bombs everytime which lead to pop ups. They also don’t appear to be hungry at times. Strider and Riley looked ready to play but man acuna ozuna and Olson just looked cold. And the whole bye week debate… maybe you can make an argument to have a longer series for the ds but after game 1 they don’t have an excuse. The astros didn’t make an excuse, braves shouldn’t either. Phillies are just a playoff team, the braves new who were lurking behind the scenes all season long. They knew they’d be playing them in the ds and they just weren’t there. All three games they looked flat. Even the game they won, they didn’t look like the braves I watched all season long. I’m not a fan of either team. I love acuna and Harper but I live in Atlanta and would’ve loved to see them make a deep push. But I’m happy to see turner play so well and Harper is honestly such a playoff guy. He’s built for the playoffs. Arcia should’ve kept his big mouth shut.

I said it from jumpstreet the toughest teams are the teams tht win tht win between 90-95 games going into October bc 80% of the time there missing one of there top players to start the season or maybe the middle of the season(or All-Star break as they call it) isn’t going well and they have to come into the second half and scratch and claw there way into the playoffs thts exactly what happened with this Phillies team Bryce Harper coming off Tommy John Surgery, the team wasn’t playing there best baseball by the All-Star break had to claw there way into the Wild Card and as of rn there 5-1 in the playoffs about to back to the NLCS and more then likely going back to the World Series this is the toughest team top to bottom left in the playoffs it is not the Astros,Rangers,or the D-Backs there is no team and I mean no team tht wants to face Philly rn it’s Scary Hours

I know some of the fans of the teams that lost this past week believe the playoffs are structured wrong, and believe the 5 day rest is to blame. That's the story, right? Let me suggest a much more *likely* factor, having nothing to do with the 5 days of rest: The division leaders by and large won their divisions easily, and haven't really played meaningful games in about a month. So it was more like a month of non-competitive baseball. I will also point out that not one player from any of the teams have blamed it on 5 days of rest.

Kershaw wouldn't have helped the Dodgers in the 2021 playoffs. He is awful in the playoffs. The Dodgers choke more than the Braves since they have made the playoffs every year since 2013 and were only to win the World Series once in 2020 (a 60 game season). That is only a 1/11 record. The Braves are 1/6 since 2018, and were able to win a full season World Series which is more impressive than a 60 game World Series. The Dodgers also have a much higher payroll than the Braves do.

I am a die hard Phillies fan but to be honest, the system is broken. A 100 win season being followed by elimination in a 5 game series...is bullshit. You win 100 games and you should get a best of 7, not a best of 5. That being said, I think the Phillies would have won in a best of 7 against the Braves. They are not playing good baseball, I seriously doubt that they can comeback from a 3-1 deficit the way the Phillies are playing right now. If they are not currently the best team in baseball in October, they have no excuse.

@@Nugs59 so in a 162 game season, you think winning 100 games and then losing in 4 games in the playoffs makes sense? I mean if that’s what you think, I don’t understand it, but that’s cool. It doesn’t to me. They could shorten the season and fix this playoff mess. Right now there isn’t any incentive to win your division. You get a week off that has to effect the first game of the second tier, that can’t help. It’s not football. The current playoff tree is flawed in my opinion but you can like it. Have a good one.

I won't make excuses but I've listened to Atlanta and Baltimore radio where fans were calling in who don't watch baseball regularly asking why their teams looked rusty. It's because their teams WERE rusty. LOL. These teams including LA won their divisions and then didn't play baseball until SIX DAYS LATER. You can still win a series even with the rust, Houston has done it but that now has to be the issue for managers of top division champ winners. How do I keep these guys from getting rusty with no baseball for over a week? We'll see what happens under this new Wild Card format.

By what possible metric? Phillies pitcher has been lights out this post season, starters and bullpen. We’re averaging 3 hr a game with 2/3 of the lineup hitting around .300. Star player (the biggest one that is) with 1700 ops and five hr, bottom of the order hitting as well or better than the top. I don’t know if you can play much better than the Phillies are right now.

The inconsistency WAS the consistency..and going by old school rules after 2 strikes the batter is suppose to be protecting the plate..meaning "close" pitches are meant to be swung at OR you're getting rung up But yes, coming from a Phillies fan, there were some pitches that definitely went in our favor

I’m a diehard Phillies fan. I’m thrilled with this win and I despise the disgusting Atlanta Braves. But the regular season is undermined and diluted by adding all these extra wild card teams. MLB is like the NBA and NHL now.

In the late 60s, that ended when they expanded with the Expos, Pilots (Seattle!!), etc., when league divisions were created. Bottom line, and when it's for the bottom line, a slippery slope becomes the inevitable result. So here we are. The BS in the game, I believe, began with the adoption of the DH. Say what you want, David Ortiz, blah blah blah, the beauty of the game was corrupted. More offense, less of the game's mystique. How much strategy when the pitcher was in the lineup. When managers managed before they analyzed. When it was human wits and not artificial intelligence. When players settled things and not Angel Hernandez. What do Mickey Lolich and Joe Blanton have in common? Two pitchers who hit dinners in WS games. Now, that's quaint trivia. But no longer in what's a watered down version of baseball. Tell that to this generation. Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got til it's gone.
