@@sawmill035 Is that one of the Nats MASN commentators? I was a Phillies fan growing up in Virginia, so I've unfortunately had the displeasure of watching a lot of MASN baseball, as the MLB subscription would be blacked out if the game was on in your area. Somehow the announcers of the usually-irrelevant Nats were worse than the Braves' and Mets' announcers.
@sawmill0354 ай бұрын
@@a-train69420 Yes! He is the play by play guy for the Nats. I also am a huge Phillies fan who grew up in Virginia. I am not joking, we literally used to MUTE the television whenever the Phils played the Nats because he was so unbearable. Nationals could be a 110 loss team, and he'd talk about each of the players like they were all all stars and hall of gamers, and how the other team always got lucky if something good happened. It was infuriating to watch. To this day, any time the Phillies deliver a gut-wrenching loss to the Nats, my first action is to go back and watch the critical moment as called by Bob Carpenter. Hearing him cry never fails to cheer me up.
@a-train694204 ай бұрын
@@sawmill035 Hahah sounds like your household was a lot like mine. I think the 2 commentators my dad absolutely could not stand (and still can’t) across all sports are Joe Buck and the MASN crew (I guess Bob Carpenter especially, though I wouldn’t have recalled his name). I didn’t really understand why when I first started watching the Phillies as a kid (I was lucky that my first year really watching the Phils was ‘08 when I was 7), but as I’ve gotten older my dad’s disdain has surely been passed on to me. We wouldn’t watch on mute, but there would certainly be multiple moments every game where “ugh” would be said in disgust or my dad complaining how ridiculously biased and terrible the MASN guys were. Thank god I don’t ever have to hear them commentate a full game ever again thanks to streaming.

Why didn’t they walk Harper ?
@WannabeWRX4 ай бұрын
I'm assuming you're talking about the 10th inning. It's because there's only 1 out, and walking Harper would load the bases. That means facing Alec Bohm, a guy with a .329 average, and who is hitting .500 with a 1.250 OPS with the bases loaded. You end up with the same result one way or another.
@robertlosasso42224 ай бұрын
@@WannabeWRX Your only assuming, still with the bases loaded you have to play the infield in and get the runner on third , doesn’t have to be tagged he can be forced or you can turn a double play . If you force the runner at home the catcher can still turn the double play by getting the batter at first .
@WannabeWRX4 ай бұрын
@@robertlosasso4222 And this is why you're commenting on KZbin videos and not working in the MLB. First, Bohm has a batting avg of .500 with the *bases loaded.* Second, Bohm has only grounded into a double play less than 20% of the time there is an opportunity for one. Third, the only run that matters is Rojas. Fourth, Bohm leads the Entire MLB in Runs Batted In. and Fifth, Bohm's Ground Out/Fly Out Ration is .96, meaning he is more likely to fly out than ground out. What that says to managers is that Bohm is NOT likely to roll over a weak ground ball to begin a double play in that situation. That is why he's been hitting behind Harper ALL Season. The Professional Manager paid to do that job looked over those numbers and decided to risk taking on Harper because it was do or die anyhow. Walk Harper, Bohm beats you with a sac fly or a base hit. Game over.
@robertlosasso42224 ай бұрын
@@WannabeWRX First let me tell you Mr. Statistics in that situation your not looking for a weak ground ball , with the infield in any ground ball will get the force at home and then with two outs you play your infield at normal depth and a fly ball is as worthless as your statistics.
@WannabeWRX4 ай бұрын
@@robertlosasso4222 And, once again, random KZbin commenter #848882 thinks he knows situational baseball better than the Professional Manager who's played baseball at the MLB level, studied baseball at the MLB level, paid to make the actual decisions at the MLB level, and has a full staff that works on the MLB level. You can't get an infield force at home or a GIDP if your pitcher doesn't induce balls that stay in the infield. And the groundouts that Finnegan induced were against the Phillies hitters at the bottom of ther order that tend to hit more ground balls. And after Clemons (who blasted his mistake into the stands), the only "groundball" hitter was Rojas, who became the Zombie runner in the 10th. And Finnegan was facing the top of the order - where the first four batters were flyball hitters. And every batter that Finnegan faced in the 10th *hit the ball well out of the infield.* Having scenarios means absolutely nothing if you don't understand the pieces that you have on the board. The Professional Manager made his decision based on the pieces he's been dealt. And Professional Manager also explained that he didn't want his pitcher that had just served up several fly balls to face the MLB RBI leader with one out and the bases loaded. It really becomes easy to tell that you hadn't known all of that going in, or you wouldn't care if you did. The Professional Baseball people don't have that luxury. But do go on about how the Professional Baseball Manager, who ran the "Walk Harper to Load the Bases" scenario in his mind, is some kind of fool for considering it a bad idea because the hitter behind Harper would most likely find a way to drive in Rojas, especially with only one out and the sacrifice fly against a flyball pitcher *still* on the table. Do increase your baseball knowledge if you intend to criticize decisions of Professional Baseball people as something other than as a fan of the game, please.
