We never know what the people around us are going through in their lives. Addiction is a very powerful thing. For some people it's hard to endure the things they go through. Let's not criticize the circumstances of his death. Just go back and pop in one of your favorite Philip Seymour Hoffman movies and remember him in that way.
@coastalseasider4634 Жыл бұрын
@cassadaga ~ Perfectly said. And it is now (don’t know year) known that addiction can be genetically caused. I *LOVED* Philip Seymour Hoffman in “Charlie Wilson’s War”. Leaving his lady & his children had to have been difficult enough. Also being a blessed mother of a terrific son I too reared alone causes me to feel extremely heavily for his dear mother. R.I.P. Philip Seymour Hoffman. You made a difference.

I rewatch Doubt and Capote every few years. But I really can't get over his characterization of an obnoxious snob who meets an untimely end in The Talented Mr. Ripley. It's a small supporting role, but his character and, in particular, his death is the fulcrum which redirects the path of the plot into a classic cat and mouse game -- the murder investigation. Think about what performances we have missed since he died.

Heath Ledger, Philip Seymour Hoffman and James Gandolfini were among the very best actors of their generation. I would say all three of them top 10 guys in terms of genius. Philip was the number 1 I guess. Big big loss, I haven't quite got used with the idea that they're no longer here, that they will no longer make movies. It comes to mind also a huge loss long ago was John Cazale. He was a genius who died too young also. Acted in so few films: The GodfatherI and II, The Conversation, Dog Day Afternoon and The Deer Hunter. He was of that rare talent also.

***** All anyone can really say ultimately is their personal opinions, which will always be limited and subjective. Film critics severely disagree with one another all the time. If people needed credentials to manifest what they think the world would be much worse. And what is nice about the internet is that anyone can come here and disagree creating a healthy discussion. Unfortunately most people are plain aggressive like you. Or perhaps trollers, behaviors that destroy the and purpose of the web. Tim Bernes Lee created the web and gave it away instead of getting rich with it, because he believed it could be a great tool for collaboration and communication, not for unjustified aggression and stupid trolling.
