And God bless you too. Until an addict is brave enough to heal their own pain, that is sadly the legacy they give to others who love them. A huge loss indeed. The rough thing about addiction though is that there’s often no way they’ll get better until they hit rock bottom. It’s taught in alanon that healthy boundaries must be set in order to not enable the addiction and you really can’t blame Mimi for doing so, especially for the safety of her children.

Methadone
@jamesdunn96093 жыл бұрын
@@insatiablecuriosity2555 It's a horrible substitute. It is definitely better than heroin, but it has a longer half-life and is just as hard to stop. Methadone maintenance programs aren't actually treatment for the addict. They are actually designed to protect the community FROM the addict. By switching the addiction from heroin to methadone, the addict can be more functional so those programs do have some positive effects for them, but they remain addicts. What those programs actually do is lower the transmission rates of communicable diseases (leading to lower medical costs and increased community health) and the need to commit crimes to pay for their addiction (leading to lower rates of property crimes, petty theft, shoplifting, etc.). There has to be a better answer than this.

Firstly, if you’re not an addict yourself, then you’ll never, never understand it, period. I’m an alcoholic. Ive been an alcoholic since I first started drinking heavy at 15 years old… I’m 54 now. I’ve been fighting the demons of addiction for a long time including rehab and a few stints in AA. I’ve lived a very exciting and fulfilling life full of travel and adventure. Some long stretches of sobriety and some long stretches of drinking and fighting back to being sober. I finally came to the conclusion that I’ll never be 100% sober and that I’ll always relapse. This realization alone has actually helped me. Knowing that at some point I’ll drink again completely removed the fear. It also allows me, when I do go out, to bounce back much quicker and without guilt. Addiction is a hell of a thing and I wouldn’t wish upon anyone. Just have to live life and continue the fight!

Damn this is so sad. Addiction is such a damning insidious disease. The shit i do to keep it at bay is so tedious, ranging from AA, fitness, kratom and socializing with my support. I had a real talk with my dad because my last real relapse was bad, and i was about to get kicked out for my isolating bizarre behavior, which led me to run away and go on this crazy bender where i dumped how addiction made me feel and the curse, dichotomy guilt and shame it brought, and the ultimate feeling of just being misunderstood. This led to a stronger relationship with my dad then ever, and a strong relationship with something greater than myself and finally reconnecting with myself. Still on kratom, but actively tapering while using it as my maintenance as im slowly but steadily getting my tiles in order. Thank god i’m always from the prescription pills and fent, kratom truly is a blessing sometimes. Being open and honest about that usage with basically my sponsor led me to a good life so far. Made so much progress, just work is a super trigger messing with the taper, but as long as i don’t really go out with the good street shit or have a drink i’ll be okay

Apparently, after Hoffman's death, Mimi's runs were countless. Even to this day, no one knows how many runs she achieved, but Philip's countless awards, which filled the island of Madagascar and the country Australia, never came close to her countless runs around the world. Countless....that which cannot be counted, is like Mimi who has not stopped running to this day. When she drops dead, we can finally count her runs! Which will be counted because they are not countless. Countless is the ineptitude and the size of the brain worm in the documentary writer-narrator's skull...which is infinity!
