It sounds great, and that is also because it's Taylor. They surely know how to make a soundboard that vibrates nicely.

Stick the unit in a low end guitar and it becomes a party machine. That blue tooth speaker function is the main selling point. This is a really fun idea and I hope it does well. Mind you, I'd rather buy a guitar with the unit pre-installed.
@Markle2k3 жыл бұрын
They sell them pre-installed in a variety of steel and nylon guitars. But the install kit itself is $395, so the guitars are $1000-1500, from no case to gig bag to hard case.
@TheMerc19503 жыл бұрын
Dang...This would be a fun mod for an office. Have your guitar hanging on the wall that you can use as your bluetooth speaker, or pull down and jam while waiting on code to compile!

So many questions….. 1) does it have to be a 3/4 scale guitar? 2) is there a guitar builder that sells guitars with this unit already installed? 3) why haven’t the Yamaha‘s, and Washburn’s of the world sold a guitar with this unit already installed? I think they could turn some units!
@Jdb633 жыл бұрын
1. No 2. Yes, look up Lag Hyvibe guitars 3. Yamaha does have their own called the Transacoustic series, but that only does the effects and not the looper or speaker features.

I have a GS Mini Taylor with electronics. I wonder if I could replace the controls, add the speaker system, and re-use the existing transducer... Though the USB looks to be on the same plate as the output jack so I couldn't use the existing output
@Markle2k3 жыл бұрын
One thing you are going to run into trouble with is battery capacity. Non-delay effects don't use much current, but those transducers will. I'll bet 3/4 of the volume of the brick is battery. An alkaline 9v battery has about 450-500 mAh capacity. I couldn't find any specs on the website, but I bet this has 3-4 thousand mAh or more for its 10 hour runtime. The FAQ says it is replaceable if you disassemble the unit. So it is probably a standard size with a standard connector.

Phil, Great video, would there be a way to mount the controls to the escutcheon plate prior to mounting the plate to the body? almost like mounting a humbucker to the ring and then screw it down.
@stevenjones67803 жыл бұрын
I'm sure he'd have seen that if it were possible.
@alfromplymouth3 жыл бұрын
@@stevenjones6780 Most likely, but as someone who tinkers, sometime you get so engrossed with the big picture, little things that seem obvious, are not so obvious, which is why hindsight is 20/20, besides, I am offering a tip, not a critique.

Has anyone tried to add the HyVibe system to the Taylor GS Mini? I had look inside mine and it looks like the bridge offers little room for the actuators. Also, I can't find the dimensions of the main module. top half of the mini is quite narrow and am worried that when mounting the main module there, i will stick so deep that it will extend into the sound hole. Would appreciate if you have any feedback on this.

With all due respect, I really just gotta ask... Who the hell is this product made for? It seems so ridiculously niche that I can't imagine the company making money from this. Soldering is already a big hurdle for many guitar players, even experienced ones. Using a dremel to cut up your acoustic just seems like such a huge leap. Sure, for an experienced tech like Phil this is no problem, but honestly, if I'm already paying 400 bucks for a system to put into what will most likely be a budget guitar that costs less than the system itself, I don't want to go and pay a bunch more money to have a tech install this thing. Cool idea but just a very bizarre concept for a product.

I might be mistaken, but the 'kit' is the functional part of a system that they mainly sell as a complete guitar.
