My purchase of a Vela Satin Solid Body this year was significantly influenced by your video with Warren Huart where he played that guitar. I was interested in getting a PRS, and intrigued by the Vela, but watching Warren fall in love with it on camera really pushed me over the edge. I too struggled with semi hollow vs solid, but ultimately chose solid due to supply constraints. I was very happy to see you do a comparison review of both!

A Huge thanks for this. I really like your content but these kind of follow up videos really drive me home. It is a good thing to get the first impressions and feelings for first weeks of usage, but it really drives the point when you reveal the long term (or the lack of it) content. Unfortunally your live show will always be a battle between my work and free time (being a sound guy in Finland), but I will catch it again eventually. ;) Actually I had a few ideas watching this: 1 - Buying a vintage guitar and comparing it to the modern counterpart. F.e. RG550 or 70's Gibson SG or Stratocasters from 60's, 70's, etc. Point being what you need to keep observing when buying, what could potentially being wrong, what needs fixing, how the modern version differs or is better/worse than the old one, how much the price difference really is after the adjustments, etc. etc. 2 - Buying pedals, 80's vs. 90's vs. 00's vs ultra modern pedals in the SAME price group. F.e. 80's plastic MIJ chorus, vs. 90's your-find-everywhere-chorus vs. 00's first-in-china-chorus vs. your-typical-amazon-chorus. Anyways. Have a great christmas and do continue as always. Your honesty will keep you at the top of my guitar-youtubers as always.

I generally build my own guitars using quality parts but I saw that new Firefly SG in classic red for only $169 and had to buy it. What a good call! It was shipped quick and arrived perfect. All I did was lower the action a little because I like it low. No wonder that they sell out quick and I will keep my eyes open for another model to buy!

Hey Phil. Happy Holidays and congratulations on another great year for your channel. Loved the content. I am really curious to know what type of pickups your thinking about for your PRS SE. I myself have an SE and I love the look, the feel and the playability but I do not like the pickups. They are Definately better sounding to me than my previous 2 SE guitars but I’m still just not into them. I find the coil split way too thin sounding. As I write this to you, I’m leaning toward a set of Burstbuckers or Slashbuckers. My Les Paul Traditional has Classic 57s which I really like but I may throw those in my SE and put the Burstbuckers or Slashbuckers in the Traditional.

I'm laughing that the Arch-Con won you over. I've noted more than a couple reviewers who were kind of luke warm on it at first, and later it turns out they kept it and love it. I was lucky enough to snag one, and I also went from kind of liking it to loving it over time. I'm not sure what that says about the amp, but I won't be getting rid of mine any time soon. Love your Channel, and try to watch all your videos. Your pragmatic approach to all things guitar and the funny or odd situations that you've been through and how you handle them is refreshing. Here's an idea for a video that may be worth doing. It is somewhat anecdotal that the less pickups and electronic components you have in your guitar, the better it sounds. On 11/23/21, Trogly put out a video where he was testing pickups in different locations on a guitar, and he causally turned the selector to a pickup location where there was NO pickup installed, and yet a noticeable amount of signal bled through. This is probably happening even when a pickup is installed, but not selected. It would be fascinating to hear such a test conducted using your Somnium guitar. Maybe more guitarists should take a closer look at single pickup guitars. 🤷‍♀️ Hope you have a wonderful holiday season! 🎁

That was cool.. I got a few suggestions for some "specimens' for you to check out. One is the Sire LC H7 but with P90's, not the stock humbuckers that is their typical product (Pete from Andertons has a vid on it as it was created especially for him by Sire). Then perhaps the Eastman T64 followed by the Eastman SB55DC/v, which has a single dogear P90. One last idea (for here and now) is the Harley Benton line, especially their take on the 52 Tele. I have a new Reverend Airwave 12 - couldn't be happier. I assume that it was made in Korea, but fit, finish, sound, and electronics are flawless. I'm no expert, but I'd hold it's tone up to many of the Rickenbackers that I've heard. Straight in to the clean channel of a Deluxe Reverb, with a Janglebox compressor - Byrds all over!

I also bought the PRS SE Custom 22 semi-hollow in the same color pattern after getting the SE Zach Myer, and between that and the two, I prefer the Zach. If the 22 had a satin neck and better pickups, it would be a better guitar. The slightly thicker neck on the Zach feels better to me and doesn't cut into my palm as much as the 22. They both need locking tuners and a better nut.

KZbin and other social media has turned mainstream. that is for sure. This is where every one hangs out. You can't hang out on a TV show that you like. You see it and 20 commercials and it's over. this platform is the way to go if you want make living running and or hosting your own show. If it's good they will come. Good job Phil. thank you. As far as you losing money on the guitars after you test them do your video and sell them goes…. I really believe that you could get exactly what you paid for them plus is if after you did the video you did a Phil McKnight set up on the guitar and offered them for sale on your channel right here your followers would pay for retail plus the set up plus shipping to get one done by you because I know it be done right and I know it would be a great guitar if you recommended it and that is definitely worth more above and beyond for retail simply because of how many guitars you say you go through when you buy one to find one it’s really good at knowing that you’d review that you recommended and you set it up with Daphne worth a premium and that way you would not lose money!!!
