If people can't see that Papa John was a creep, they aren't looking close enough. Sure, he did a lot of good things with his music and promotion. So have a lot of creeps. It's their ability to charm and bs everyone into believing their 'front' that takes them places. They can hide a secret life easily because they know how to play people. I was in a relationship with a woman who was subjected to incest by her father during her childhood. He was a teacher, and a real charmer to some people. Not me. I thought he was a loathsome POS from the first meeting. I saw through his facade and he felt threatened by me because he knew that I knew he was hiding something. He was very abusive towards his wife, mentally and physically, who ended up being diagnosed as schizophrenic because of the trauma she had been put through. None of their friends believed that he was a monster. They thought it was his wife being crazy, and that his daughters were lying. Ridiculous what imbeciles people can be when the obvious is glaring at them.

Attention people, this is what abuse looks like. It's all smiles and family-friendly. Until the one who got the short stick can't take it anymore and finally has to get something off their chest. The family sees THEM as the weak one for not carrying that burden any longer for the sake of the family when, in reality, they've been carrying the heaviest load of all and just can't do enough drugs or run far enough away or deny it well enough to stay in the game. This is not about notoriety or selling books for this woman. It's about coming clean and being able to part ways with a past that had its hooks in her.

I believe McKenzie. The victim is always, always always re-victimized. Finding voice, looking for solace and comfort by the victim takes a ton of courage because you are on your own till you can find a solid support group. By then your life is changed and you are on a new path. The rest of the world will never seem or be the same. My abuser is still on the loose, living a comfortable charmed life. I got no closure, just denial, deflection, even by politicians, police and even a victim advocacy group. The police didn't even want to know what my abuser looked like (I was 12 and he was a male pedophile at last ten years older than me. The sexual abuse happened frequently). It must be even worse for McKenzie cause she has to live in the limelight.

Yes. And that relationship was incestuous. And if you think that it didn't do a great deal of damage to her mentally, you're mistaken. 79tazman She didn't just bring it up to sell a book... It was somewhat documented right after her arrest when she was in "celebrity rehab with dr drew" She had already been working on her memoir for a couple years, but it wasn't until after her experience on celebrity rehab, that she actually vocalized the incest and incorporated it into her novel. Her other sister Chynna Phillips has said in interviews that she had known about it since the 90s, it was always slept under the rug... Do your research before doubting someone, because coming forward with something like this isn't exactly worth selling a book... and Mackenzie Phillips is the least likely person to sell herself for money or fame.

I have only told my sister in law about my adoptive mother abusing me. I would never tell my adoptive brothers. (Her sons) They are loving brothers to Me and have very different memories of her. They also don’t know I’m alcoholic and struggle so much with my life. I choose to hide that part from them. Its is complicated but that interviewer had no right to attack her.

This interviewer is so insensitive. Let her tell her story! Mackenzie Phillips is an extremely strong, intelligent woman. Trauma lives within the body, why do you think she was so dependent on drugs? Good for her for speaking her truth and finding recovery in such a cruel world that has continuously beat her down. Imagine how hard this is for her to speak about and to live through again. She was completely let down by her father growing up, but still managed to pick herself up and get sober while the whole world watched. Getting sober and dealing with trauma is one of the hardest things a person can overcome, but to have to do that in Hollywood while the public watches and tries to make a spectacle of it, makes her one of the bravest women I can think of. Her downfall was captivated by the public eye and used to sell tabloids. Just imagine trying so hard to get sober and having your name dragged through the mud and your picture on the cover of magazines telling the world you were fired from your job. Just imagine the pain that must’ve caused her, and yet she persisted and got clean. She has helped so many survivors and addicts along the way. Good for her! I commend her for all she has done to help this world! She is the best!

She said on another interview that the first time it happened she was already doing drugs and an addict. In this interview she saying she became an addict because of this abuse. Michelle Phillips said she does not believe her. So has her other step mom. I think Mackenzie craves attention of any kind. She reminds me of my sister. Michelle thought it was ironic she came out with this when Chynna was doing her thing to over shadow Chynna. I know through my own experience how disgusted I felt about certain things. I know how people with borderline personalities act because my sister has that and Mackenzie reminds me of that. Why bring it up after her dad's death. If it did happen I will say I feel like Mackenzie wanted it to happen. I always got a strange vibe from her that she wanted to be her dad's number one above his wife. It's sad if it happend and horrible if it didn't.
