Fly in snow at your own risk, as well as temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius. It's silly. I do it because I like to test these things out for you and I've flown drones in so many different conditions I'm pretty aware of their limits. Be careful, be considerate.
This was filmed in the Swiss Alps, and yes, the first part was in a snow storm, the second part was when the snow storm gave me a little rest.
Flying a drone in the snow can be dangerous, please be aware of your surroundings and your aircraft.

All exposed for the sky, I can bring back the shadows a little, the blowouts nope. The grade is a simple contrast, highlights and shadows pull, that’s it.

I'm happy to see that Romina! Well, it's so cold it doesn't really melt until I get it in the car, and before I do that I give it a good wipe down, blow off any ice I can. I then stick it on the car heater so any water evaporates, that method has worked for me until now and the drone is fine. Salt water will kill it, normal water, when dried "should" be fine.

Thank You! Sure, after flight I take out the battery, leave the door open, and sit it on the windscreen heater with the controller and it’s dry and good to go in no time. Get as much ice off as you can, the rest will evaporate.

Thanks Dan! I put all my eggs in one basket with KZbin last year, I do it full time now yes. It’s not easy but with high views and affiliate links it ticks all the boxes for bills and life, it’s hard work and a lot of it, but it’s possible to make it work for you if you put in the hours. I treat it as a job, go in at 9-5 6 days a week. Funny times right? KZbin as a job. What would have thought! No, the LR is my friends, I drive an Octavia estate 🤘🏻

That is no doubt the battery, keep the battery warm before you fly, then let the drone hover for 1-2 minutes to warm up the battery. Whenever the drone warns you though, land, that's the best thing.

I flew in - 4 celsius but quite humid air, and after 10 minutes of flying i had "Motor overheating" warning or something. When i eventually got the drone back safe, the motors were super toasty, and the props were covered in ice (it had built on like a "long icetap" in the direction of spinning). That was a scare, but a good lesson! :)

Stunning shots as always! You're using ND8 in such cloudy conditions as I see. I guess it would be like ND16 to ND32 if there were the sun, right? Would ND8+PL work also good in your conditions?

Thank You! Yes, I had ND8 and ND16 on most of these shots. ND32 if the sun is out, sometimes ND64 if it's a tropical country. I used the hybrids when the sky was blue just to pop it a little.

I've flown the Mini 1 over a lake at -12 deg C and with wind gusts above 22mph. It withstood the harsh situation very well. The stability was impressive. Watching your video gave me more confidence in the device, both the Mini 1 and 2. Great footage though.

I took the battery out the other day and had a look at the internals. Such a simple looking setup for a tiny machine that can do amazing things. Good to know it can handle a bit of moisture whilst out and about. Still amazed at how good the Mini2 really is!

I’d have used an hairdryer as soon as possible to avoid problems in the future. I’d have concerns about corrosion. But the footage is amazing, thanks for flying under these circumstances 😉

Corrosion would be if you get salt water on it, snow is fine. A hairdryer would be a little too hot, also in a car in the Alps hard to find, so the windscreen heater works perfectly. I'm honest not really that bothered about it, I'm more about the shot, I want that shot, that's my mission, and I hope the tech lets me. This time it did, thanks to this crazy little drone!

I found out recently that my Mini 2 didn't like flying in freezing fog, only had it up for a minute or two before getting a motor error, brought it back in and the rotors had a fair amount of ice in them!

Loving your videos man, the more I watch the more I add to the next list. I'm thinking about getting my channel going mostly motorcycle, camping, paragliding type stuff. I have a drone now thanks you your input, have a Pocket 2, and probably buying an Insta 360X2, maybe an action 2 because why not. Anyway been watching your reflections as a youtuber vids that's helpful. So anyway I hopped in here because you said your hands are cold but you don't use gloves due to lack of dexterity. Yeah the vid is a year old but it's winter again so it's relevant, try some Gore infinium or Gore windstopper gloves. Both are super thin but great and used by outdoors action sports types.

Another impressive video, Phillip. Great job. It’s amazing how harsh winter is when at ground level, but from a drone’s eye view, things appear so calm and peaceful. Ok, I am convinced now that filters are a necessity. I live in a climate that has four seasons one different from the other. Awesome video Phillip. I'm jealous of the Mini 2 and I have a Mavic Air 2! I think it will be perfect for hiking and outdoor activities and I know it flies at 4000m so it would be great for the Himalayas etc. I've seen videos where you can use solar chargers to recharge the mini's batteries which is a game changer.
