Phillip Velayo critiques William T's shooting technique using footage with a Triggercam overlay. Velayo highlights the importance of cartridge details for recoil management and emphasizes the significance of the first shot in a competition. He notes William's good rifle handling skills but identifies issues with bolt manipulation and recoil management, particularly in the first shot. Velayo recommends improving rifle-to-shoulder connection, tightening the wobble zone to 0.3 mils, and maintaining a stable reticle for 0.2-0.3 seconds before shooting. He also suggests checking for mechanical issues affecting bolt cycling.
Shoutout to William for allowing me to critique his video.

Doesn't matter how much experience one has as a distance marksman, the more we learn the better we drop targets. Thus, thanks for the video.

LR shooter here dating back 30 years. One thing I learned from Pat Kelly in 3-Gun that might help is to bowl with your reticle into the TGT from 7 o'clock, vs casting the reticle down onto the TGT. We know from alternate positions there's going to be wobble, so you can settle into the bag while approaching from 7 o'clock and have a more confident feel as you break the shot along the approach. You have to be very familiar with your trigger to do it consistently. When I started using that technique, my off-hand and positional shooting hit probability increased noticeably.

Really helpful content! Gutted I missed the MDS sessions you ran in the UK 🇬🇧 One of the main reasons I record and post videos at matches is A. I get to watch frame by frame when editing and pick out issues. B. Others can give feedback that I can work on.

Thanks for your insights into the PRS world Phil with showing us body manipulation and body management. I use your tips in shooting a type of F class using a hunting bipod and 1kg squeeze bag. They are very helpful thank. Andy 🇦🇺

3 minutes in, get a heavy fill sand bag, it will reduce the wobble a lot

Good stuff, Phil. As a novice shooter- I would've never picked out all the stuff you're able to see in this critique. Lots to digest, for sure... Also, I cringe when watching shooters grab their scopes to move or manipulate their rifles. To me it's like watching a baby pick up a cat and carry it for the first time. 😂

Great content appriciate you putting it out a question I'd ask is I seem to be having an issue where the more solid I make my shoulder connection the more I induce wobble and trying to thread that needle is giving me a hard time .
