I've made a couple of these now. A feature that I add, drill out a central chamber and out some sticks in. But it looks th same.

Can the glue and paint .. little that was used.... be toxic? Does the wood have any chemicals?

I used plain wood no chemicals. The glue is water based wood glue. As far as I know i don't think it's harmful to bugs.

Does it matter what size drill bit to use? Maybe some different sizes? Going to make one just like this! As am ordering some ladybird larvae to boost the low numbers in my garden, & control the aphids. DONT USE CHEMICALS ANYBODY!!

I would suggest drilling a selection of different sized holes as some bees are bigger than others 🐝

It's difficult because if you wait for it to work then you might need to wait months before finishing the video. They do work though.

@@PhillWyattProjects side project then show actuall results.. not trying to be an ass or anything i know how hard it is to make content and edit and put up on a reg basis but with all the info about the Cons of these things and how they dont actually work makes u wonder why all these DIY never actually show viewers if the ACTUALLY work.. i would like to see one day one of these actually been used by insects.. goodluk.

This is what you get when someone sees a picture of something and thinks "I can make that" without having the knowledge of how its supposed to work or how ladybirds overwinter. You might get the odd solitary bee use it but as for ladybirds not a chance in hell.
