Thanks for this, we were riding on this one. I admit I didn't realize the two new cars were in the consist as we had boarded at PC so we didn't see them. I did have a look inside the Queen of the Valley, that was appointed beautifully for Valentine's Day.

You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed your ride and my video of it. The new cars were pretty far back from the station at Port Clinton, so that makes sense that you wouldn't have seen them. Glad you go to visit the Queen of the Valley, it really did look great for the holiday!

Nice job on filming this one. My favorite part was seeing all the different rolling stock in the sidings along the way. Great to hear they snatched away the log car service.

The section ("open") sleeping accomodations were not usual for post war "modern" light weight sleeping cars as they were a feature of older heavy weight equipment before newer enclosed bedrooms and roomettes became predominate. Generally the sections postwar that some railroads still provided in their newer equipment (in limited numbers) were used primarily for government travelers, etc as Uncle Sam would usually only reimburse their employee travel expenses for the cheaper rates and not the more "pricey" enclosed units.

Robert Claytor who was the CEO of the N&W later on NS used that car from time to time when he was running the 611 or 1218.

Has there been any word as to when some of the standard coaches might get repainted? They've been looking pretty faded the last few years.
@JamieMakin10 ай бұрын
I am hopeful that at least some of them will get painted this year. I believe they plan to repaint all of them, but it definitely takes time to get to each one.
