Double threshold, 22 miles. You are definitely a pro. Mere mortal can't even comprehend how much that is. I had to pause to process how insane that is. Cause a 22 mile run is enough to kick my butt so would a threshold day. Together is not just twice as hard but exponentially harder. Us plebeians can only watch in awe :)

Your Norwegian Prof is Peak Phily 👌 Highest overlap between entertainment value and educational value. More of this please 🙏 Also very clear now that Double T was a massive contributor to smashing Berlin! Would you do a video revisiting Double T?! how Double T evolved for you over the block? How the volume on that day changed (or not), how your pace improved, how it helped you mentally for Berlin? How should intermediate runners introduce Double T? How your threshold pace compares to your Berlin pace…? Would be great value 💪🫶 Love the Grind!

I think the main advantage of these days (ignore al the science stuff) is that, if you add all the warmups and cooldowns to the distance run in the two sessions, you must end up with a pretty big volume day. And because the threshold sessions are basically interval sessions (with breaks between the efforts) a good part of this volume is done faster that you would in a single long run. Nothing terribly new to all this; in the '50s and '60s loads of runners trained on two interval sessions a day, 5-6 days a week.

Question! So what exactly does the threshold data from the lab tell you? It gives you an approximate pace, right? But a pace for what exactly? Because (if I understand correctly), your threshold effort is going to change based on the distance. So for example, your threshold pace while running 2mi splits is going to be slower than your pace when doing 800m repeats. Or am I incorrect in thinking that? I'm still trying to learn.

@PhilyBowden4 ай бұрын
I don’t know! I believe in Bakken’s blog it says timing between workouts isn’t important provided adequate recovery has happened (subjective), but I’d guess that sleeping between them would be at odds with having distinct hard vs easy days?
