I'm 4 and a half year old gerbil and very few things will draw me away from my food pellets, but Phoebe's beautiful voice all ways makes me stop and take notice. I feel like she understands what it means to have an average life span of about 6.5 years and wanting to make the most of it. I feel like her music says "everybody calls me a cute little hamster, but really I'm a tortured gerbil" and this message just connects with me, ya know? Seriously though, this was really beautiful!

I love Phoebe Bridgers so much. Funnily it wasn´t me, but my 57 year old Dad, who discovered her and spammed me on whatsapp with her songs until I finally really listened and started loving her. Ever since then, Phoebe (and other artist in that genre like Alice Phoebe Lou or Courtney Barnett) has been something that my Dad and I bond over. We keep sending each other new discoveries and just rn l sent this video to him (I expect he´s gonna answer that he already knows it and I´m way behind on what´s happening in the music world). Our mutual dream is to see Phoebe live on stage and we hope one day she´ll come to the south of Germany and play a concert. I´m so looking forward to this day. Thanks Phoebe for strenghtening the connection with my dad so much.

It’s refreshing to read these comments. I posted 1 of Phoebe’s songs in an alternative music page, which has a lot of 90’s fans in it. Some love her and a few are so stuck in the past that they don’t recognize talent from new artists. Phoebe was praised by Dave Grohl, played with Philip Glass and okayed to cover a Radiohead song. That says a whole lot that open minded people of all ages like what she’s doing.

Yeah, this killed me. This song crushes my soul and has done so since it was released, during one of the most depressive times of my life. This version is just as soul-crushing as the original and that's a good thing. Wow.

I'm the 41 year old daughter of one of the best dads to ever exist and unfortunately, he passed away a few days ago. I probably am Phoebe's typical demographic but I never looked into her or Arlo Park's music but this has inspired me to. Not sure it'll help my fragile state of mind while grieving but in case I ever wake up and say "Wow I really am not bored of crying all day so let me turn on one of the most beautiful covers of Fake Plastic Trees", I can now do so :) Also, the comment section is one of the best I've seen in a while. I'm even willing to listen to the extremely loud and startling "BBC RADIO 1" intro that has probably busted someone's ear drum by now. In conclusion, amazing cover of an amazing song by amazing artists!

Lyrics❤ [Verse 1] A green plastic watering can For a fake Chinese rubber plant In a fake plastic earth That she bought from a rubber man In a town full of rubber plans To get rid of itself [Chorus 1] It wears her out It wears her out It wears her out It wears her out [Verse 2] She lives with a broken man A cracked polystyrene man Who just crumbles and burns He used to do surgery For girls in the 80s But gravity always wins [Chorus 2] And it wears him out It wears him out It wears him out It wears [Verse 3] She looks like the real thing She tastes like the real thing My fake plastic love But I can't help the feeling I could blow through the ceiling If I just turn and run [Chorus 3] And it wears me out It wears me out It wears me out It wears me out [Outro] And if I could be who you wanted If I could be who you wanted All the time All the time

I'm a 14 year old who isn't like many other kids my age. I don't think the way they do. I don't act the way they do. I don't talk the way they do. This song makes me want to change them. I had a girlfriend who I thought understood me, turns out she didn't, and I don't think the friends she turned on me will either. This song makes me feel something not even she could make me feel herself. It makes me feel like a real person. Flesh, blood, brain, cells, skin, hair, pimples and all.

Be yourself 🥰 that’s what I would tell my 14 yo self, to be yourself and also that there’s nothing wrong with yourself. I didn’t like myself and would have happily been anyone else. Now I’m 37, accept myself and rarely meet anyone up to my high standards of how I like to behave and the kind way i want to treat people etc. Seems like you understand that already though xox

Now admittedly, as 89 year old political has-been Micahel Dukakis, I'm not her typical demographic, but this is making me feel like it's November 5th, 1974 again, the night I was first elected Governor of Massachusetts.
