Nice work Dave, I think you got some great results. I have seen other photographers get more extreme results with this film, but I prefer the more subtle effect in your shots. Maybe giving it a little more exposure works.

:-) The story of the AGFA scanners vs the home Epson V550 scanner made me giggle - it saves the day! Dave, we are alike. I too have an Epson V550. Have used it for about 8 years or so. I find it so solid. I've created some large prints from digitised negatives from it. As for the Phoenix - I am thrilled to see the development of colour film from them. I'm not taken with the look of Phoenix myself, but the promise of future colour film is what I find so encouraging. Imagine if they create something akin to Kodak Portra or Fuji Pro 400H for the next round. Now that will be a day to celebrate as it will give the consumer more options and choice. Which means more affordability...usually.

You did great with that film, Dave. Gray cloudy Ohio came through for you, to make sure there weren't too many highlights to blow out. With Phoenix, some colors come out great, others are ????, but you did a pretty good job picking subject matter, and scanning it

Ive noticed how you get really interesting results on cloudy days with Lomography films and this new Harman film is great on cloudy low contrast days too, the reds and greens especially really pop and over exposing the film by one or half a stop seems to be a good option.

I think those small Ohio towns are a photographic treasure trove. I think your results look pretty good. I know my scanner certainly had some issues with it, but in the end, I got some interesting results. I agree that it's worth a try if you want a different look.

This is what Phoenix 200 was made for, experimenting and having fun. How many Film manufacturers invite their customers on a journey to test a new emulsion and play a part in future iterations of it? It's a great move from Harman and I have a couple of rolls to have fun with myself. Great photos, Dave.

I think I was expecting more extreme colors-- I wonder if the overcast weather played a roll. The halations in 3:30 go crazy!! Also 3:45 is me when I forgot I have two rolls of this in my fridge

Dave -- cool images. Looks like a great match for this film and older, smalltown Ohio -- that 'crunchiness' amps up the nostalgia -- it looks like photos from a local Sunday newspaper magazine from the 1980s -- has that squashed/gritty look with pumped colors. I have 3 rolls on order (FPP), and was considering using one in my new Kodak H35N -- *but* the smaller negative size might just overemphasize the grain and softness of this film. Hmmm. My concern too is about the scanning -- which is one reason that the results shown in various videos and blogs about this film, can look so different. I send my film to The Darkroom for dev/scan -- but I will add a note with the Phoenix rolls for them to check the scan settings for the most 'normal' results.... Thanks!!!

At this point, The Darkroom probably has the most experience dealing with this film, so you should be pretty good. This was my first roll - I’ve got another one to shoot also.

Just got my first roll back from Darkroom… but my pics are quite fluorescent (these were all daylight and rated at 125)… not to scare or worry you though… probably advised to give them specific directions on their order form! I will be re-scanning with my DSLR to compare…

I love the images you got with this stock. Hey, you ever have problems with your V550 leaving streaks in the scans? I've read that cleaning the sensors helps, but mine just keeps getting worse. Means I have to spend hours in lightroom removing them.

Yes, if I have any dust on the scanner glass, I get lines in my scans. I use a microfiber cloth on the glass before each scan. Dust inside the scanner is a lot trickier to deal with.

It’s crazy because people are talking about rating it below 100… I do have one frame rated at 80, pretty decent! This film needs at least one stop over and shot in overcast or partially cloudy conditions…

Is it worth it? All film is overpriced these days but this is just nuts. Way overpriced for some pretty mediocre film.
