Hey Splattercat! Thank you for doing a review of our game :) This is our first game and we were really inspired by Kingdom, but we decided to make our game more challenging by adding many different mechanics that are unlocked over time, such as exploring the map and upgrading the settlement in the scientists lab. We picked up a few interesting things from your video, e.g. the "auto rebuild" checkbox, and we'll try to implement them before the game's release :)
@ChaoticNeutralMatt3 жыл бұрын
Out of curiosity, did ya'll see a similar (I believe android) game? (Looking forward to it, regardless) The game was Bonfire and a decent amount of difference.

Thats so funny, I was just playing kingdom and thought this looked similar art/mechanic wise. I'm so relieved we don't have to rely on archers with terrible aim at the start lol. Would be nice to have some more color to banners etc as well, better clan/settlement identity.
@fabianbandaiii33043 жыл бұрын
Maybe the auto rebuild can be an upgrade. And also if you don't want to add health bars maybe adding one or two different animations to the walls can help. Like normal for healthy wall. Then a slightly degraded animation for 50% health wall and an almost destroyed looking wall for 30% and under. Something like that Edit: by the way the game looks amazing! Very excited for it to be finished!

Looks like a really solid take on the Kingdom: Two Crowns basic formula with some smart additions to both set it apart and improve the control the player has over what's going on. Really looking forward to a full release of this.

I'm under the charm of this game already, it's beautiful and soothing, pretty chill. The need for defence and research gives the pressure necessary to want to push out, expand, take risks and plan intelligently. I'm going to be waiting on its progress now, thanks Splatt'

I've been doing the 1st and 2nd sleep thing lately, not on purpose it just seemed to have happened. I'll be super tired and go to bed, and then sleep for like 2-4 hours, and then be awake again for about 4-6 hours depending on what I decided to do when I get up. Then I go back to bed again for about 4-6 hours depending on whether or not I have an alarm set to do something earlier than I would wake back up naturally. It feels very weird but I'm not as tired when I wake up either the first or second time as I used to be when I just tried to force myself to stay asleep when I woke up in the middle of the night.

I put a bunch of time into Kingdom and this likes it hits al the parts I liked about that but more tools and direction. What happens when you miners get as far as the bubble? I've got my fingers crossed that if you dig to deep you can hit enemys there too. Would make a great risk vs reward element. You would need defense points in the mine. Picture it your town is really building up with walls that can't be broken and then the enemy just starts attacking from the middle of your town and you need to either take the mine back or collapse it and lose it as a resource in that spot.

This game looks absolutely fantastic, but I have to disagree with you on the health bars and build order. I find less control in a game with lower complexity spread player actions a bit and makes the game a bit more than just a "queue everything and wait" gimmick which a lot of indie strategy games suffer from.

Sleeping twice? Some southern European states did so, but certainly not the northern part of Europe. And it might be a very recent idea too.(slavery or in more decent and obscuring name for is peasants, just had no time for that. Nor would your liege lord allow it. Also a lot of inventions, we take now for granted did not exist,this includes measurement of time, without it you are dependable of the Sun) This due certain reasons, it's is too hot to work at noon in those countries in contrary of northern countries were the light is precious, you have to make the most of it, sleeping during a day is wasting the natural light. Working during night times, costs oil, candles or wood. Even the idea of setting the clock back during winter days saved us billions now and it was invented at end of middle ages.

Sleeping twice a day for shorter time periods is a good idea when you live in a secluded farmstead/village, and there aren't exactly any cops you can call if people are up to no good. Ya had to police your own stuff back in the day.
