Just FYI the new pathfinder game (wrath of the righteousness) offers a lich path - including assembling your graveguard, summoning your army, and becoming an immortal demi-god lich whit an army of undead at your service It's not exactly the same as this game, but personally it satisfied that necromancer inch I had for so long (why is necromancy so underrated in games?!)

Lolol I definitely agree. And I absolutely love the idea that the lord of the underworld has to get that check in by the first of the month just like the rest of us. Tbh it seems fairly plausible too. Edit: I would 100% watch a show about hell but Satan or whoever got a really good deal for the place so he cashed out and sold it to some multinational business conglomerate and now it's been effectively "corporatized". That seems like it'd be ripe for satire. But more importantly, just inherently kinda funny. The Underwold has HR and Accounts Receivable? That's a fun premise right there! Edit2: Toby would for sure be there. You know he would.

The lack of projectile collision is probably so that you can target healers and ranged dps on the backrows that would otherwise remain alive forever benefiting from the cover given to them by bigger units.

Yhea the control over the own units seems limitet and the normal attack is pretty weak so sniping prioritie targets seems to be the best thing you can do and frankly the only thing that can realy make a difference (in terms of the basic attack)

The good thing about your projectiles not having collision but have to be aimed: You not allways hit the nearest enemy but can select and pick on a healing wizzard in their back row as example while your undead keep their front row busy.

This has been on my wishlist for a while, looks like a more serious version of Undead Horde which is absolutely something I can get behind. That was a fun game but its cartoony vibe and lack of depth left me wanting something a bit more.

I think the lack of collision on hex bolt is to give the player the liberty of prioritizing targets amid the horde. There is a give and take to collision in terms of game feel and practicality.

Probably. But personally I think the trade off of being forced to aim all the time greatly outweighs the benefit of being able to pick your target. It's much more satisfying to have projectiles just hit whatever is in front of the player. If they want to prioritize a target that's where things like spells come in to play.

The "spell only hits where the cursor" thing is a trade-off for this sort of game. You might want to fling your spell over a wall of meatshields to hit their healers! Ideally, different spells would "arc over" or shoot straight. Give some gameplay variety! They might have other spells that function like that

Good stuff for a tech demo. Some work is certainly needed. - The character models seem out of phase with the world models. They seem lower res. It wouldn't matter but that there are so many of the same or similar, so you have low-res sprites clouding up and milling over a higher-res background. This may be a decision to save frames, and I get it, but reduce the color depth so the loss of sharpness isn't as apparent. - Enemies aren't particularly distinct. Partly a symptom of the above, what an enemy will do is hard to tell at a glance and what an enemy is targeting is very hard to tell (case in point the healy guy). The yellow arrow can feel like a sucker punch because it can come from any archer any time and they aren't easy to pick out. Maybe make it only come from a crossbowman who spends most of the time winching up the crossbow, but then when done levels one big piercing shot. That way you know who to watch out for. - Encounter loop is bland. No two shakes on it, most of the time your main bad guy stands there spamming a targettable bolt spell. That's a yawner. They CAN wade in and melee, but with the increased risk, why? You also spend most of your time watching your enemy target and not the fun crush of your horde because you have to hover target your one spam cast. The best example I can give of a good loop that you can easily move to is Diablo 3. There are abilities that expend resource 0 that generate resource 1, abilities that expend resource 1 and cooldowns. Costs are balanced so that you can use a resource 1 ability about two or more times per enemy pack, based on its effectiveness. Cooldowns are available once per 5 packs or so. To keep the encounter loop from being bland, you need a way for the player to do something and make choices. They should have an ability in each of a few categories that charge off of/use different resources: time (CD), energy expended (spam casts/default), humans killed, corpses, friendlies killed, etc. - Friendly army control gets cludgy. The big, strong melee guys are slow, so they tend to float to the middle of the pack, where they are least useful. Melee skeletons not attacking just stand there. You may want the most injured and hardest-hitting to push to the front, then you get lots of big smash and minions mindlessly charging in over the ruin of their comrades for some fun horde action. There are some good basics. I think with a retuning of the sprites and a more involved encounter loop, you can have something really sparkly.

I played the demo, and yeah the Arrows are annoying to avoid because your attack animation locks you in place and they can be fired from outside of your screen, it's pretty annoying when the arrow comes your way and you just started a new attack anim. I wish you could retreat your minions from a fight as well.

There' a manga about a sage that became an undead lord and brought back an unstoppable undead army to exact revenge on the humans. I thought he'll John Wick the whole world but partway through he appointed himself as the new demon lord and used his undead army to force peace between the human factions. For justice and equally or something.
