Phoenix police officer fired after 'out-of-policy' shooting in 2022

A Phoenix police officer has been fired after an officer-involved shooting in September 2022. Interim Phoenix Police Chief Michael Sullivan determined that Officer Jesse Johnson was "out-of-policy" during the shooting. On September 24, 2022, 34-year-old Ali Osman was shot and killed by officers near 19th and Glendale avenues after he threw rocks and other items at patrol cars and officers.

Guarantee gets his job back in about a year or a year and a half with full back pay after he appeals it to the civil service review board happens all the time. If the DA had enough integrity to actually charge him he might not get his job back

He’s going to appeal his firing and get reinstated by the civil service board just like Officer Jeff Cooke did back in 2021 when he was fired by the Chief of Police and then later reinstated by civil service board

If he was actually fired and had his policing certification revoked that’s huge but I doubt it. He probably resigned and moved and the media is just covering because of the public outcry... that’s what usually happens.

Well, they said that because he was throwing rocks at them. Something you might say if you were about to arrest someone throwing rocks. THEN he got shot because he kept throwing rocks even at the officers. Dumb criminal.

Shooting someone within policy does not make it legal. Shooting someone outside of policy makes it illegal.

The county attorney and internal review board found no criminal liability and that it was in policy. He will get his job back. The chief caved into anti police politics. You can kill someone with a rock. The fact is this clown made a mistake and got shot.
