Callum McCarney Gavin’s arguing that Burnie always sees construction at Austin Airport because it’s the most frequent place Burnie visits, so of course he sees it the most there. Burnie is saying he will 100% of the time he sees construction at Austin airport, no matter when he goes. He doesn’t see construction at all in other places, even if he visits them frequently. If they’re good at maintenance, you should be able to go to the Austin airport and not see construction sometimes. Burnie says that scenario never happens. Gavin is speaking in absolute terms (# of instances of construction at a given airport). Gavin is still right about the airport construction
@dillonschreiber23894 жыл бұрын
How
@mukundprabakar7804 жыл бұрын
@@dillonschreiber2389 Okay, I've seen you ask multiple comments so I'll break down his point to you. Burnie complains he sees construction every time he goes to Austin airport. He then notes that when he goes to other airports, there is a lower incidence of him running into similar construction. Gavin notes that his perception is skewed because Burnie visits Austin airport more often than every other airport because he LIVES in Austin. Thus, since he sees Austin airport more often than every other airport, he is exposed to more incidences of construction. Burnie does not understand this point. Gavin is saying Burnie's sample size is biased, because every time he sees airports, Austin airport is involved. Thus, for every non Austin airport Burnie sees, he sees Austin's twice as much, meaning he will see twice as much construction at Austin than at every other airport combined. While construction happens at all airports, Burnie mistakenly thinks Austin's construction is more prevalent, when really he only has more exposure to the natural amount of construction occurring there.
@dillonschreiber23894 жыл бұрын
Mukund Prabakar burnie is saying everytime he goes to Austin he sees construction meaning a percentage of the time. So he sees construction 100% of the time at Austin and say only 50% in LAX
@ThreadBomb4 жыл бұрын
Gavin is wrong. When Burnie catches a flight he sees two airports: Austin and his destination. If Austin airport has the same amount of construction as other airports, then the amount of construction Burnie sees at other airports should average out to be the same as what he sees at Austin. If that average is lower than the amount of construction at Austin, then Burnie is correct and there is more construction at Austin.
@HotCrossJuns4 жыл бұрын
@@mukundprabakar780 Why would you assume Burnie is speaking in absolute terms? The fact that he keeps stressing "every time" pretty definitively demonstrates that he's speaking on a relative basis (i.e. # of times seeing construction / total # of visits)
