Really liked the video - good tips! Thank you. I teach this slightly differently: once crouched and balanced close to the object, I suggest lifters DO look down and grip firmly to ensure a secure grip. Then they can reestablish good top-down spinal alignment before bringing the object close and standing.

Manual Handling :Push Before Pulling It is safer to push rather than pull. Keep your back straight and bend your knees. Do not twist at your hips to push, but rather keep your core tight and use your legs and body weight to move the object.

I know comment was 3 years ago but I think the important part is to avoid having your spine leaning forward while weight is applied to it. So if you can stay up straight you should be minimizing damage.

Can someone show me anything scientific that says stretching before hand is beneficial? All recent studies show there is no decrease in injuries when a person stretches before physical exertion. In fact studies show that stretching afterwards is more beneficial than stretching before hand. Anyways putting out old dated information is irresponsible and will lead to someone getting hurt. The very thing this video claims to want to prevent
