With independent TBs, there are two main types, those with a set idle speed screw and those that use an air bypass. I don't recall using the latter, but the former will have one 'master' butterfly which has the idle speed adjustment and you set that to a stable idle speed and adjust from there, referring back regularly as the idle speed and airflow will alter as you do it. When they're passing equal amounts of air and the idle speed is correct, that part is done. If you wish, you can then have someone plonk their size 12s on the throttle and check they are all opening fully - actually, that is a good idea with ANY carbie or TB work as cables stretch, carpets and mats move under the pedal, etc. to the point where I have seen over a half inch of slack develop on some cars, taking care of that can make a big difference!
@pkuudsk99276 жыл бұрын
@@craigdavies69 They are not hard to tune ,well not any harder than motorcycle in line 4 . They are just air funnels set the blade angle with a feeler gauge ,an air flow / vacuum meter ( manometer) and your set. Motor cycles have had them for years nothing new,, just rare to see on cars .

I was all about turbo's till i drove a car with one. It was awesome and made me love em even more. But i also realized just how much i loved the wail of an N/A single jingle, and that snappy throttle. So now i need to build a boosted 2nd CRX to go along with my stock D16 CRX si. Best to keep em in pairs anyway. Like guinea pigs
@hdrenginedevelopment75076 жыл бұрын
The thing is, the turbo builds could learn some things from the all motor finesse. There comes a point where you can't really just ram more boost through a mediocre port. Remember, pressure drop is related to the square of the velocity, so there's only so much hp/cylinder you're going to get before a stock port is going to choke up. Psi boost takes enery to make, so it all starts becoming a circular limitation at some point. Personally, I love supercharging builds the most. It has elements of both camps, and it's hard to make a ton of boost, so you have to make the most of it with a good top end development program.
@stevewelborn87446 жыл бұрын
The Icemeister's UnGarage could not agree more. If you port the cylinder head and n/a it picks up 10% then boosted it's gonna pick up 10% of what it's making. I don't know if I worded it right but I think you know what I'm saying.
