Came to this video just browsing others' works and I'm really grateful you began with a discussion of your own journey to this point. I relate a lot to that, so I subscribed immediately. Looking forward to more of your stuff!

cool series, im subbed. Drop more episodes. Ive been following shin for a few months now, but I think one word I would describe his photography with is 'raw'. His work really gives me the vibe that the camera is an extension of him and is true to his perspective. (Also if/when you decide to do you a photo essay, drop it here too lol)
@blkmarzАй бұрын
thank you for the sub and the comment! && Well said, I agree! & I’ll def drop it here too lol 🤞🏾✨

Stumbled upon this, really enjoyed it. Just started my photography journey recently and analysing these with you was a great way for me to understand better what makes a photo great. Keep it up, looking forward to more.

I found your Video via Insta of Shin Noguchi. It's great, you have a good eye and sense for great photos. Keep going your good work, man. Greetings from Germany, Chris

Loved this. I often worry that youtubers (and 'grammers) are consuming each-other's work exclusively a little too much, leading to sameness. I'd like to explore more areas myself - classic photographers, painters, and other formats
@blkmarzАй бұрын
good point! never gave much thought to studying painters, but that’s a good idea! thanks for commenting!

Wonderful deepdive into work of Noguchi👌, however ChatGPT is wrong about lens. He is a 35mm lens shooter. So your sense of 28 being to wide for you might be intuitively correct after all 😊loved the video
@blkmarzАй бұрын
very interesting! I didn’t know this! in that case, maybe a new lens is warranted! lol thank you for the comment!
@asthmatykАй бұрын
@@blkmarz I just wanted to confirm this, I actually messaged Mr. Shin about the focal length he's using and he confirmed that it's a 35mm. Anyway, great video. You have a great voice, I think that adds a lot of mood into the video. Keep em coming! I also just got the 35mm 1.4 for Z mount yesterday and so far enjoying it a lot (just dropping this so that you can feel justified to buy a new lens)

I DIDN'T KNOW HOW I FELT OF THIS TYPE OF VIDEO COMING FROM YOU AT THIS EARLY ON IN THE BEGINNING STAGES OF YOUR CHANNEL. YOU DID A REALLY GOOD JOB ON THIS VIDEO ESSAY OF THIS PHOTOGRAPHER. YES; I DID PAUSE THE VIDEO AND FOLLOWED HIM! GREAT WORKS!!! I WILL HAVE TO SAY MY FAVORITE IS OF THE FAMILY IN THE LIVING ROOM WITH THE WOMAN TIRED AS HELL WITH HER KIDS LAYING ON HER!!! YEAH MAN YOU NEED TO STUDY OTHER PHOTOGRAPHER'S WORKS....NOT TO BITE...BUT TO TAKE INFLUENCE AND ADAPT INTO YOUR OWN STYLE! IN ADDITION TO STUDYING BOOKS I FEEL IT'S EQUAL AS IMPORTANT TO GET OUT WITH OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS ON THE STREETS AS WELL! BOTH WILL HELP YOUR GROWTH TREMENDOUSLY!!! ALSO WATCH MOVIES AND A DIFFERENT WAY THAN YOU DID BEFORE! FOR REAL THO....THOSE WALKIE TALKIES FROM PAULIE B IS A GREAT WAY TO LEARN TO... EVEN I TAKE SOMETHING AWAY FROM EACH PERSON HE INTERVIEWS!!!! I'M REALLY DIGGING YOUR CHANNEL AND WHAT YOU'RE GOING! KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING... REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY PEOPLE YOU HAVE NOW. THE AUDIENCE IS LISTENING!

I'm not sure about this, but perhaps the spiritual and aesthetic concept Wabi-sabi would be a key to understanding the work of this master photographer ? Thank you for this very inspiring video. Daidō Moriyama could be the next one ?
@blkmarzАй бұрын
I think you’re on to something here! Wabi-sabi does seem to be a cornerstone to his approach. Thank you for the comment & the recommendation. I’ll have to check out the work of Daidō Moriyama - I’m not familiar with him!
