its not about roasting people its about showing young women that what we see everyday on instagram is not reality and it sets an unrealistic beauty image that could be detrimental to ones self esteem. and that everyone we see on our phone screens have the same imperfections as the rest of us.

but campaign photos are made to be perfect, using off guard photos in unflattering angles and lighting then comparing it to perfect conditions and edited photos is not realistic either it is just a way to put people down masked as helping out for the greater good. for example, kylie jenner does not look like the picture in normal conditions or the picture on the left either, but the account is trying to pass it as though she looks like the picture on the left. if you have watched kuwtk you would know she looks good, and like a normal person who has some surgery, and there is nothing wrong with that at all.

I don't know. I personally think we should be harsher on people who slightly retouch their photos. It does perpetuate a sickning persuit of a perfect self image that does not exist. I'd even dare to say small retouches are worse than bigger ones. The girl on 9:58, for example, is naturally very pretty. And yet she still felt the need to retouch her features in order to look 'instagram perfect'. This is harmful on so many levels - specially to herself. We honestly need to start normalizing our "imperfections". People shouldn't have to feel the need to retouch their photos everytime, this is very tiring to the mind. I still can't get over that girl, she's gorgeous and yet she still felt like her nose should be thinner and her eyes brighter. That's actually sad. Society has always cared about looks but I think we're taking our narcisism too far.

The one thing I hate about some of these celebrity comparison photos is they'll go find a pic of someone who just came out of the gym after a workout, and then compare it to a photo shot in a studio with perfect lighting and makeup, as if those conditions wouldn't make anyone look much different. Of course people edit and manipulate photos, but it seems like people make these comparisons because they dislike the person more than anything else.

right? like a lot of the differences in some of these seem to be about angle and lighting, and the unphotoshopped pictures aren’t even what the person looks like in real life because it just happens to be an unflattering snapshot
@cryingOnions4 жыл бұрын
While you are probably correct to some degree, I do this sub as a critique to how people present themselves on Instagram. They seem to allow no imperfections but at same time try to make it look like this is the real life. This is a very toxic environment for impressable teens who will look at these heavily touched up pictures and think they are ugly bc they look in the mirror and look nothing like the people on instagram. Its especially pictures absolutely and 100% staged, like the one where people pose in their pyjamas, perfect hair, perfect skin, perfect make up and a description that reads "cozy days, just chilling today" or "just woke up".
@vierkavojcikova4 жыл бұрын
@@cryingOnions I think, Nobody is interested to see anybody just getting out of bed grassy, sticky, sweaty, you name it. There is some estetics that is applied to make photos, videos.... On the other hand, as you said, some influencers writing they just get up from bed in full make, looking 100% great etc is obvious lie, you can see that in product photo, advertising. I hope we all know thats not true. Like nobody in reality wake ups like somebody in the movie. And who think or believe those influencers wake up like that... are fools. Stupid... Teenagers should already know what is movie, advertisement and that’s not reality. People wondering about those pictures and some others explaining it is photoshop seems to me like people actually believing what happened in Titanic movie and the behind the scenes effects explained.

Un-retouched photos can "lie" too.

100%. I think a huge issue with this whole conversation is that people think that cameras and photos are representative of the truth, when they are definitely not. A painting can be more representative of the truth than a photo sometimes, there are so many factors involved.

@@nox8312 As a painter myself I can tell you nothing is representative of the truth. We're not static images. Nor are we dolls. If you struggle with your self image you should visit a therapist. The difference in face shape may also be caused by the focal length of the lens. Smart phone cameras have fairly wide lenses which makes the face appear slimmer and the eyes larger, especially when the picture is taken from a high angle. The paparazzi photos, in contrast, are surely done with a telephoto lens which may make the features appear broader.

I'm so curious about the first one tho. Like who is that lady? She sounds insane
@badreddinekasmi89194 жыл бұрын
Probably has a lot of issues with Dysmorphia and her self esteem and self image. Let's not just chuck it to "insanity".

@@badreddinekasmi8919 you're probably right. I didn't mean to be disrespectful, I said it more in the sense that it's a crazy situation rather than a crazy person cause she reminded me of lily jean, but it's very posible that she's just struggling. I hope she finds help and a good support system if that is the case.

@@naikahara Just be careful with how you word things. People tend to attribute "craziness" and things like that to women which is an easy way of overlooking deep mental problems. Hope you have a good day

Great vid! Love your non-snarky tone on the subject, which adds credibility. I really hope people are not looking to online pics to emulate their looks by - talk about a recipe for failure. Btw, I love your look. In the world of photoshop and filters, natural and unique beauty becomes even more distinct, both of which you are.

I love seeing an actual photographer talk about this. A lot of people don't know much about photo manipulation and don't take into account lighting or angles when looking at these

Brilliant analysis from a naturally BEAUTIFUL woman. Thank you for these because they help today’s woman realize they are perfectly imperfect and absolutely fine and lovely as they are. I am so glad I grew up when I did. I always had and still do have so much confidence despite my humanity and flaws. As I appreciate aging as a gift! All people are beautiful! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I'm so grateful I grew up in an age where photoshop didn't exist. What you saw was what you got. Imagine meeting someone but they couldn't recognize you cause you look 100% different in your photoshop pics. No wonder kids now adays have severe anxiety meeting people. They know they look nothing like their pics on social media. Sad indeed.

I remember being a teen how obsessed I was over magazines and comparing myself to how perfect models and celebrities skin looked on them when the whole time it was photoshopped/airbrushed. It’s ridiculous how retouching has gotten overrated.
