Amazing, Alyn, thanks for sharing this experience! And thanks for the 360 panorama! It felt unreal that Milky Way is so obvious there despite the bright Moon! Incredible work!

Exciting to hear you’ve got a book coming out in the new year. I’m hearing you talk in December and was wondering if you’re likely to have any early copies on you?

I was blown away by the intro with you waving your arms around orchestrating your signature, and then things just kept getting even better! Despite the Moon the pics are great. Worth the effort with the altitude issues I hope? What an experience for you, thanks for taking us on the journey with you so we can experience it too....but without the discomfort! hehe :)

i think the flare is really cool! im just an enthusiast, but some of the flaws you described in the Canarias videos were unnoticable or made the picture cooler imho. happy accidents :)
@AlynWallace5 жыл бұрын
Haha a man raised with Bob Ross. Yeah, the timelapse is alright-ish but that flare meant I couldn't use the images as a star trail so that sucked

Hey Alyn. Have you checked out the Starwatcher AZGTi and the Synscan PTZ app? Fully automated panoramas, mosaics , star tracking etc. Definitely worth playing with one at some point.
@AlynWallace5 жыл бұрын
Not yet, bit chunky and fiddly for me. Also doesn't rotate about the no parallax point so no good for the kinda panoramas I do

That was indeed incredible. That sky was so clear - at least it looked that way to me - and the stars so bright! Wonderful! Your time lapse? ... AWESOME, even with the flare from the moon. For me, I liked it. After trying to shoot Orion in 10°f weather with 20mph wind, I feel for you. Were you able to keep your hands from going numb? Lol. Any problems with gear? Great stuff! Well done! Thanks for sharing this amazing adventure.

must have been an absolutely amazing experience ! ps: have been some years ago on the aiguille du midi by cable car, the mountain station where mountaineers leave for montblanc. it is also at a bit more than 4000m asl. I was very surprised by the difficulty to breath and the amount of effort it took just to climb up some stairs. the photos with the telescopes are surely out of this world, the 360 pano is simply spectacular ! how did you create it ? a shame you didn't have a drone wth you or were not allowed to fly it there. that would also have been something. anyway, well done !!
@AlynWallace5 жыл бұрын
Thanks :) I use ptgui for my 360 panoramas (and no use flying a drone at night anyhow!)
@beutelleemaier35325 жыл бұрын
@@AlynWallace lol true, for some reason I didn't think of that. in the video it looked as if it were bright day, maybe that was it? there are night videos of drones, although in a city, which may not be the same as 'one of the darkest places on the planet' :)

Seen ALMA, during a private group tour (fund-raising for ALMA). I expected small dishes the size of pick-up trucks. Was I stunned & ignorant. Makes ya really think what signals they've found, that aren't being published. The entire ideology of ALMA, is to detect signals that current large dishes cannot. Oh. It was very frigid, on the top. About -16 Celcius. Calm wind.
