It's not always enough to know where to find a specific species you wish to photograph, it's more often what location offers the best photographic opportunities. So if you have an interest in photographing Purple & Common Gallinule and you are going to be on Florida's Gulf Coast then this video may be for you. I've been photographing at the State College of Florida in Venice, Florida for over 15 years and have found it to be a great location for both Common Gallinule and more recently Purple Gallinule.
Thanks for viewing and I hope you enjoyed this video. If you do, please hit the Like button and Subscribe so you do not miss any new videos.
Take care and please remember to help protect wildlife and help protect wild places. Cheers!

Another beautiful video! I’m new to bird photography, and have a lot to learn. It’s always helpful to see the exposure settings as a learning tool. Thank you.

Nice video and great detail in the black feathers. Your set up looks comfortable but what’s stopping the alligator emerging on your side of the pond?

Ivor thanks for watching my latest video and glad you enjoyed it. As for the alligator generally speaking they really are not a threat to humans. The problem humans typically have with any alligator in Florida is when people feed them which is against the law. When that happens gators will associate humans with food, now you have a real problem. They really do not want anything to do with humans and if you get to close they will move away. The exception would be mating and nesting season, in that case you need to be very careful.
