@jameslcr I do not like the kit lenses ever keep that in mind. The big zoom is big but the F stop does not let enough light in for you. I recommend for your 5 year plan starting with the 50 1.8 and growing your better glass from there.
@froknowsphoto14 жыл бұрын
@aerosoladdiction Well if you have a camera with focusing motor on the nikon end the 1.4 afd is amazing and less expensive. The 1.4 lenses are built better and I like the color that comes out of it.
@froknowsphoto14 жыл бұрын
@Bowlerguy92 i usually move the points and than still I re compose from there. With the D3000 its easier to leave the point than recompose. In the D3s I select between 51 points and go from there.

Your best video yet, Jared. Delightful to watch how you work and how you do your compositions. And as always, Lil is just adorable and some really great pictures. Very educational!

@Madwand1 What you have to remember is I am looking at the back of a d3000 screen, what looks like blown out on a 3 inch screen may not look that way later in the computer. At this point I try and wait until I see the images in the computer to give my thoughts about them. In terms of your girlfriend thinking my shots are not great, if you would like to base that off of this quick photo shoot than by all means please do so. If you want to look at my portfolios feel free to check them out.

@TheGuyTakingPictures when you recompose after locking in your focus its licked in. But if you move to recompose your focus in af c will keep going and miss where you really wanted to focus. I will have to do a video showing that.

I really like those long videos as I'm starting off to get into DSLR photography and I tend to miss a lot of angles and ideas on how to shoot. These videos is almost like doing an internship where I can look at someone that is experienced and learn from that. It will help me definitely improve much faster. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us, keep up the good work, cheers

One of the keys to photography other then understanding the fundamentals is understanding that better glass has to potential to help you capture what you really want to capture. So many people me included started with kit lenses and quickly saw how they did not give us what we wanted. I simply want to hammer home how important glass is from day one. I have also proven that you can get great images with any lens you put on your camera if you know what you are doing.

@SeptemberLynnDesigns I use lightroom to process all of my raw files. It is designed for photographers where CS5 is more for graphic designers in my mind. The work flow and organization is easier in lightroom but both will edit the raw files the same way.

@NikonNewb Do you own a 70-200 yet? This is tough on a d90 as the 27-70 really isnt wide enough for most things. If you are going to stick with the d90 or DX sensor for a while il say 17-55 as you will still be able to sell i for 1100-1200 when the time comes.

@sjw1871 I went from 1/60th f1.8 to 1/50th at 2.0 . The rule of thumb is you do not hand hold less than the focal length of the lens. So if its a 50mm dont hand hold below 50. Now this a rule I break all the time. Wider lenses can be hand held at slower shutter speeds where longer lenses are hard to hand hold unless VR kicks in and again thats only wen subjects are still. So a 300mm lens should not be shot below 1/250th or so.

I use a Nikon D80 but am getting a second camera body and leaning more towards the D3100 instead of the 5100 because I want to use the difference and put towards better glass.
