A new star for the show. Welcome miles. What a star. And it's always great to see inclusiveness in our hobby. I think a future episode featuring miles and others in a disability access approved location. My wife works with disadvantaged and disabled children in schools. They are some of the most wonderful and rewarding children. A small step for them is massive. This is one of the best shows ever. Thanks to all involved.

Maybe a suggestion for a future show, take one of your team to the top 5 tourist places on the Isle of Skye where their is so many images of the same shot/the typical tourist shot. And see if they can take 5 different images at these spots that are totally different from the norm. And see if Ruth can guess where the 5 images where taken.

So much in one episode (I'm catching up!). The School's Out sequence was sensitive and informative, reminding us of the richness that comes with inclusion. I'm grateful. There was also plenty of wisdom to the advice about asking to take people's photos, because it was recommending against "hit and run" tourism, but a genuine sharing of cultures and connection, which makes this show bigger than just about the equipment. Keep making these episodes - I know they must be hard work: thank you, for you are bringing kindness as well as cameras!

The packing was hilarious 😂 But, I need to agree. Need to pack smartly and sensible. I was able to go for 5 day's with Manfrotto Bumblebee 230, a D850, Sigma Art 24-105 and Tamron 70-200 f2. 8 G2, plus some round filters and my stuff along with a tripod. Merino clothing can help. Hi Doug. We have a regular posse of haters who tend to like the thumbs down icon. They do it for every show and we know who some of them are. Another tip for people-pictures: Use a less-intimidating camera rather than a honking big SLR with a footlong lens. It was absolutely delightful to see the kids checking out the birds, thank you.

I'm actually in two minds about that. On the one hand: yes absolutely. On the other hand, especially with strangers, they might see you in a different light as you could cone across more "professional" and less of a creep.

Great episode. Loved the School's out session with the kids. I think Marcus would have a lot to say to me if he saw my packing. I always look like I'm going for a month - even on shorter trips without leaving the province/country - you never know what the weather will be so need to pack accordingly. No matter how well I try to travel "light" and that's not including camera bag. LOL. I am impressed Marcus and never thought about using clothing to fill up spaces in my camera bag. Who knew?! Great travel photography tips as well.

Another great episode. Brilliant to see Marcus and his delightful children and it would be nice to see how they progress with their photography in the future. One question was raised in my mind about the carry on luggage Marcus was able to pack and that was how it meets the usually 10Kg or thereabouts weight limit.
@PhotographyOnline3 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew. It is rare for an airline which charges for check in bags to also have a weight limit for carry on luggage. Most airlines have no such weight limit - only a size limit. If your ticket includes check in bags, then there is usually a weight limit on carry on baggage, but in the unlikely event that this is ever weighed, you can simply open it up and show them the contents and ask what they would like you to take out? When they see it is a bag full of glass, they won't want to accept responsibility for breakages, so will let you on with a heavier bag. Hope this helps.

Love James' comments and, although I agree to an extent, generally not always, I have a slightly different approach. I travel a huge amount in North Asia, China and S.E. Asia and because I don't speak any of their languages (bar English & Chinese) I will get the shot, that first attracted me to them, with a longer lens, as they may be engaged in an interesting activity and their behaviour will surely change the moment I enter their personal space. I'll then I'll flash a smile and go and show them the photo. Usually this elicits a laugh and often a chance for a close-up portrait, a conversation or for them to take a mobile phone shot of us together. Other times they may not be interested or wave a hand 'no no', but at least I have a natural shot of them involved in the activity that was of initial interest and I'll restrain from taking any more shots, acknowledging their reticence with a smile, a nod of the head and by putting the camera down.

. At time stamp 7.42 why don't you use back button focus and AI servo this cuts down the time lag in half ,it also gives you fast tracking if you need to follow the subject for instant photographs and just leave the camera on Auto ISO that split second can make all the difference This system serves me well on moto sports and athletics . Nothing wrong on pre focus but why don't you use the cameras full potential. Again another very well put together video always looking forward to the next episode of Photography Online.
@PhotographyOnline3 жыл бұрын
Hi. BBF and half depressing the shutter button do exactly the same thing. The only difference is that using BBF ties your thumb up, which could otherwise be used for other functions such as changing the focus point or the aperture. It all comes down to personal preference, but none of the PO team use BBF because we don't see the benefit of it, but we know many photographers who swear by it, so it's just a case of using whichever method you feel most confortable with. Withg regards to using auto ISO - this a big "no no" for us, as this puts the camera in charge of the exposure, which is the last thing we would want. But again, if that's the mode you are most confortable using, then keep using it. We just wouldn't want to encourage users to do something which we wouldn't do ourselves. Thanks for taking the time to watch and to comment - it's much appreciated.
@wellwhatthen101013 жыл бұрын
@@PhotographyOnline I have found that BBF has a few advantages over shutter button focus, one is that if your lens try to focus on a subject and is not locking on you then focus using the manual over ride on your lens this puts the object in focus , now if you press your shutter button this tries to refocus again which can be a pain.Also if you switch your lens to manual focus and then need to switch to a moving target again this all takes time that might make you miss the shot. And auto ISO is maybe the last resort but a photo taken with it is better than no shot at all.
