I can hardly think of anyone who could play outside quite like Michael. Herbie likes to do it from time to time and he does it tastefully. But I cannot think of anyone who does it with such depth, takes you out on a journey so far away outside the key, brings you back into it only to take you outside again and ultimately bring you back just at the right moment at the right place. Thank you, Michael, for that indescribable trip. Miss you. My eternal admiration.

Have you listened to Herbi’s Letters to Joni and yes I’m a Joni fan and Herbi fan but you don’t have to be. It’s a little gem but the diamond is when Tina Turner sings “Edith and the Kingpen” I like hers better than Joni’s.

This was a milestone for jazz... - I never witnessed as much competence before and probably will never again in my life. Pat Metheny and Michael Brecker are well known grandes in contemporary jazz but now come the Northern gods on top... - Esbjörn needs no laudatio, his skill speaks volumes, but also Lars on bass and Wolfgang on drums are outstanding musicians. Last but not least Nils Landgren, not just a great trombone virtuoso and singer but also a nuclear power plant for (Nordic) jazz. It was a pinnacle of jazz back then I am so thankful that I was there to witness the concert and the after hours jam sessions in the old castle until sunrise. The whole atmosphere of this festival was outworldly and so special...

Credit to Sting he wrote it knowing that someone would play it like this. Imagine being Sting sitting back and hearing your piece played at this level. Credit goes to Sting, Chords, Melody, Lyric, Concept, Amazing. I love how Pat sat back and played it perfectly nonchalantly. Pat is a Titan, and his music is something else, for the sake of being polite, besides this.
