Yay! A Kaylink speedpaint, these are always of the enjoyable sort, yessums. Avy will love this, it's simply magnificent. The detail is really nice- I actually really like this 1 pixel technique, it captures all those tiny little things that make the picture in sterling quality~ It also makes it have a really painterly effect with the shading. I really like that saturated blue for the shading too! c: So pretty. Also, congrats on getting into the study abroad program at your school~!

I dunno if this is what she did, but I think she might have just put a layer filled with blue over the two animals and set it to multiply, then shaded with white. This works for SAI. Photoshop isn't super cheap. Adobe recently released the entire CS2 Suite for free, though. Hope I helped answer your questions. c:

@MaceTheBarrowsLord An eraser, the blue was on a layer set to Multiply. Erasing the blue = nothing blocking the original colors, so sort of reverse shading.

@SenseiOfPower I've had people ask if Zoe's a dog. I'm not entirely sure what they think dogs look like x3 There's not really any right or wrong. Cell shading is sharper and generally more toony, airbrush tends to look more "painted" and blendy. It all just depends on how you want your image to come across as and which you think would fit better.

You put a layer of blue over the character and set it to multiply there are a lot of shading tutorials on deviantart that will help :).

LOL im just reading your comment about wolves. and i actually like them alot xD however most of my dog like creatures are based off of maned wolves or german shepherds. I love your hyena tho, hes not as fluffy as most people draw them xD

@Darkajj I've never had any issues with lag, no. Occassionally the screen will freeze up for a few seconds, but only very seldom.

@SayaHimitsuzukiBFA I dunno, it mostly just depends on how I feel at the moment. Normally I just wait until I get an idea for an image and roll with it... and that can come from anything, conversations, music, photos, daydreaming. Muse tends to come from all sorts of places, you just have to let yourself find it first. I will normally go over anatomy before I start an image yes, however that's rarely related to getting inspiration.
