that's not true at all. I literally saw a video of his yesterday, where he was trying to trick a couple of polish players (he kept refering to the one guy as the other's "wife" and that he'd "sleep on the couch" because the "wife" fell overboard and kept trying to swim to the sloop with the other guy not noticing and the "wife" apparently not knowing about sirens) who were doing the fort (with the sea gate pulley + lift and the phantoms). He said he and Jacky were pretending to help them and then steal chests/loot. It was only when he figured out they were noobs they weren't gonna steal it, but initially he was being super deceptive. Ultimately he decided not to take anything, but the toilet cleaners gave him some loot anyway.

Not everyone will be able to perfect it, but solo slooping is great to hone your skills. Even if you aren't a good fighter, you might have other talents. I consider myself to be capable of piloting and repairing my vessel easily and by myself. Perfect ship management skills and you can team up with others on a brig or Galleon to allow your teamates to worry only about fighting and raising anchor. It makes you a valuable creemate.

I enjoy solo life. After a long day at work I enjoy just sailing wherever I feel and not force others to take on my adventures with me or be forced to take on their adventures. But it is tough at times. After hours easily taking on pve it is an entirely different battle fighting other players. I tend to just flee galleons but still will even have trouble with just a duo sloop at times. These tactics do help but I def need to work on being anxious in those fights because that dreadful feeling of losing hours of treasure/ work. Lol.

Last night, I won my first fight ever! I've made it to a Pirate Legend, but my PC is SOO Slow, that my black screen lasts about 6 minutes, sometimes disconnected due to timeout if I die, and have to then rejoin, with empty pockets. Thus, I suck at PVP. However, for the first time, I chased a guy to Golden Sands, and sunk his sloop with mine. When I did that, I knew he must be new. SO I told him, GG, climb on board, you can sell all of your loot, and all of my loot (I had a TON, 3 megs, 1 kraken, 5 pirate sloops, and 2 pirate galleons, and 3 island treasure maps). Then, we pull up to the dock for him to sell, and I notice we he got shot, half way through selling. I had this one supply crate with 600 cannon balls, and 150 chain shot in it. Any how, he got shot, and before I knew it we were being attacked by 2 reapers from a sloop. I killed 1, the other killed me. I come back, to my ship almost sunk, and jump off hiding myself from their sloop. I swam ALL the way under mine, and then to and under theirs, and climb aboard the reaper sloop. Expecting to kill someone, or be killed, no one was there, they were grabbing my loot to sell. So I drove their sloop into an island at a glance, so it would get holes, but still run away from them after wards. Now, back to my sloop. Here I come rolling in to Golden Sands from Discovery Ridge. I roll up on them with chain shots pre loaded. They hit me with 2 cannon balls, I get their mast down. For the first time EVER (I even messed up against the first guy I killed) I managed the slow circle and shoot. They still got their mast up, but then boom, I get it down with a chain shot again. but THIS time, a Huge explosion, and their ship sinks. I won! Against 2 more people, reaper level 5. I got everything I had back, plus all their stuff, and ran to sell it, and did! Best feeling ever.

I've found that often times, when a galleon is approaching you while solo slooping, not running away changes their minds on PvPing you about 50% of the time. At least in my experience. Almost like bluffing in a way. And if its a somewhat experienced crew, they'll know if you have the upper hand if you can position yourself correctly in the first moments of contact. EDIT: But I also think everyone should solo sloop for awhile themselves. You learn a lot about yourself and will be a FAR better crew member on larger crews as a result. As you'll naturally be thinking of everything and can jump in on whats needed. IE repairs, knowing when to fire, boarding etc.

Love watching and rewatching your videos in the background while playing and man, it's so true when we say playing as a solo slooper is playing in hardcore. I have this innate feeling of dread that I WILL struggle in tense PvP situations and will eventually be overwhelmed, be it by lack of experience or simply lack of crew and ship size, I've been overcoming this for 3 years now playing this game and only recently have I started to actively put myself in danger so I can learn. It does however get in the way when trying to have a peaceful evening and you end up wasting the only 3 hours you had for the night. But that's the pirate's life, in the end as long as any player I encounter is a good sport about winning and losing too, I can leave the session having lost my loot but gained respect for another player and more experience.

The hitreg is a lot worse than you think. On occasion you will see cannonballs hit your mast, but they actually hit your steering wheel. On rarer occasion it works in your favor, you hear and see them hit your ship, but it actually missed, no damage to your ship at all. For other kinds of practice, try to shoot powder kegs in flotsam while moving, you get the hit marker multiple times but nothing happens. Otherwise solo sailing is indeed tedious and boring. I've logged out mid athena voyage because I just didn't feel like sailing across half the sea for more of the same.

You have a very good way of fighting for you. Rather than other styles that rely on repetition, not that you didn't practice but it's clear that your style is more weighted towards your strategic mind than the fundamentals most tryhards rely on. Your aim isn't as amazing as a lot of arena sweat double gunners which sounded more derogatory than I meant it's okay to double gun, but you make up for it by putting yourself in positions that are favorable and quick thinking by dodging gun fire manually. You don't make random dodges or movements to try to be unpredictable but instead you seem to make intentional movements every time.

As a solo slooper it always puzzles me when people attack me in certain situations. Like, if I have a lot of loot, or a grade 5 emissary, then it makes sense. I might get a little frustrated, but it’s Sea of Thieves and I have stuff to steal, so I understand and know that it’s a part of the game. But, when I have no loot, no resources, no emissary, and yet still get attacked by a fully crewed brig or galleon then I just have to ask, why? Maybe they just want to PvP, but I’m a noob solo slooper, the fight isn’t even close, especially when you board me. There’s no loot to steal and the PvP experience is abysmal at best, you’d have more fun fighting skelly ships. It’s called Sea of Thieves, not Sea of Assholes.

@@sebi-yu9hv my crew and I (I have only 60 hours but lots of pvp experience already, my other crewmate is completely new but already has 20ish fights under his belt and we have one pirate legend) never run from fights. We DO ally sometimes (ie yesterday we allied with a sloop of 2 frenchies to do Fotd together), but mostly we engage and we don't run either. We keep aware of reapers and other ships (even if on islands). Otherwise we'll never learn. Sure, we get sunk a lot and lose our loot. But who cares? It's pixels on a screen, same with the outfits & ship looks etc you can buy. I'd rather get sunk stacked with loot (sure, better with nothing, but hey) 200 times in a row and learn something every time (better at firing/aiming cannons - esp. chainshot - better at coordinating, repairing, boarding, melee/firearms, etc..), than run and learn nothing from it, other than how to sail and get better at getting away. Yeah, eventually we'll work on the sailing too, so we don't get rekt by 2-3+ ship alliances, but better to get good at pvp first, and then worry about everything else. I made the mistake of doing the exact opposite on rust for my first 500 hours, and therefore barely progressed because I'd end up dying when I tried to do monuments etc. Sure, Rust is a far less forgiving game (and the grind is a lot tougher and more frustrating), but still. Never going to repeat that mistake again. There will always be crews or solo players who live for PVP, and I'd rather spend the time to learn how to fight them, than having to run and wasting my time sailing around uselessly. And ESPECIALLY when you have no loot you should fight. Because it helps with the learning curve, and you'll be LESS "stressed" about potentially losing everything you just spent time grinding for. You have nothing to lose and a lot to gain, even if it's just skill improvement.

I mostly play for PvE, and if I ever do interact with other player ships, it's to offer them my loot because I've decided I don't want it, or to try for an alliance against Flameheart. Yet so often, they still go out of their way to sink me when I have no emissary and was going to give them the loot anyway.

Thank you for leaving crews out there alone after an initial warning. I like the PvP content and accept a fight most of the time, but being spawn killed until your ship sinks while doing Tall Tales isn't a fun time =')

I had a solo sloop encounter today, me and another solo slooper both were at wanderers refuge, he was there first and I arrived on the opposite side of the island. Neither of us knew of the other until I saw his ship after I crested the hill. I used a gunpowder barrel I found on the beach to blow up his ship as I saw him head towards my boat. I blew up his ship and returned to find my boat sailing away and him swimming back to shore. We had an epic sword fight on the beach which I won by a hair. I then mermaided back to my ship and returned to find his ship had sank as he didn't respond in time to save it. Unfortunately the wifi cut out so I lost the loot of my first ever pvp win. However I'd like to thank you phuzzy for helping me come up with plans like that one.

Watching you makes me want to play this game, but when I hop on it’s never fun. I always get destroyed by other ships, spawn killed, or chased around the map. Somehow Brigs always catch me when I’m sailing against the wind in my sloop. Just makes me want to sail into the Red Sea with all my loot because the idea of someone who chases me around all day wasting their time is more fun than playing for 5 hours to lose all my plunder. I’ve been a pirate legend for a while, and I feel like I don’t deserve it.

@@PhuzzyBond you’re the man Phuzzy! I’ll keep grinding the solo life when I can cause I have noticed improvement in my cannon skills again. Been away from SoT for a while and yesterday I had a blast. Made it to Reaper 5 by myself for the first time just sinking Skelly Sloops and Gallys and Megs haha. Even got the Kraken when I was about to turn in but then ran into some tuccstreet boys who spawn camped😂 I learned my lesson though, carry that blunderbuss when you are on the ship and listen for audio cues!

I’ve been heavily considering going blunder sniper. Normally run sword sniper but blocking just feels pointless half the time. They really gotta fix that as it’s like a third of the reason people take it; countering the sword is an important part of the sword.

On xbox I've noticed block fails the closer they are like they are passing through it so try and block while dodging back at same time so they dont pass through the block by thier textures ghosting into your texture and missing the actual box that the block animation sits in if that makes sense. Think of it like how you can point blank with a sniper and miss cause your barrel is actually poking out their back. They need to fix character mesh in my opinion and it will fix stuff like block and point blank shots missing as it stands the character model's are not solid and might as well be ghost.

I solo a lot and one thing I do if I don't want pvp is if there is a reaper and a reapers chest is closer to me than them, I'll get it and bring it to them as a peace offering. It works more than you'd think. If your the same way sometimes. Give it a shot.
