I spent a while making brig crew, this one kid especially who could not help but try to animorph into hyena because they safety sunk my AFK ass. I was taking a smoke by the window and got just so startled by the noise from my game that I got ashes over my shirt coming to my controller and headset to say "the fuck?" and they sealed the whole thing with "if you can hear this, sorry about this." So, instead of taking it as a ultimate que to finally close the game I rammed, keg'd if ghost fort was in the way, and came at them in pathetic attempts only to make their FoF they thought they guaranteed to be less nuisance free through sinking me, but I had seen their level 5 wannabe athenas and goal next to my outpost. By the time there was another brig that sunk them, because I am no PVP lord and even keep to TV and controller more to make my solo attempts even more pathetic, but through just simply doing it again and again with no regard for anything else I got the other brig realize they've been backed up by the most insane solo player in the sea and after twice sunken I was happy to ablige the other ship's ask for me to leave, let them take my resources which is usually a good way to stay afloat and went to our merry ways. Sometimes it is not about the gold or athena's, but sending the most weird message you will not get even after having crappy solo sloop tag team your boat with another boat just as eager and happy to shoot him.

While Ashen Dragon may be the starter Ashen sails, the Flameheart sails do exist, and are a show that you have plenty experience using your canons at the least, (kinda hard to kill Flameheart a whole lot of times without learning the basics of ship combat). I sail with Ashen cosmetics as a rule/my theme, and though the Flameheart sail hasn't seemed to deter anyone yet, I keep it up for the chance.
@sh4rdzy2 жыл бұрын
I think the best encounter me and my friend ever had with a crew with sails was when we came across a sea of champion sail ship. They attacked and we turned into the wind to collect ourselves and form a plan (we were both sloops). We then went by some barrels and picked up a keg. I boarded with said keg and they quickly sank. The crew then got mad and called us "keg only players". Yes my friend, kegs are in adventure mode. Get used to it. lol
@nomas19893 жыл бұрын
I am also loving the newly expanded open ocean areas where the red sea used to start sooner, really helpful if you think your ship has more supplies or you have more faith in your naval abilities than the other crew you are fighting. Obviously this is only for equal sized enemies, if you are going up against something bigger, you would probably use the tricks of sailing in/around islands to use the environment more to your advantage. But this was a great battlefield for my Galleon recently when we were defending our Athena 5 flag against a Reaper 5 Galleon that portalled in to fight us. We had the better crew so we won on skill, but it was still very entertaining fight, and at the end of the day winning or losing came down to team effort as opposed to getting Rare'd with PvE or other bad luck. As always, keep up the great content Phuzzy, i can't catch the livestreams as much becuase of my new work schedule, so I will be catching your content here on KZbin more. Happy sailing!

One of my favorite things to do to scope out the skill of potential reapers as well as possible ship types is zoom in and see how they move. Wind is consistent over the entire map so you can tell a lot just by how a ship parks/direction of the bow

Let me add one way to know to this list 😂😂 I was tucking on this brig at a fort, and was barrel tucked downstairs over a keg ready to blow them once all loaded... they were hot micing and they were all talking about bringing ALL the kegs on board... which they already had some one board at that point and thought to myself this is going to be easy.. they spread them out ALL OVER their boat so in case they were hit by a cannon they all wouldn’t blow up 😐 music to my ears.... they were running after each other lighting kegs then defusing them... then one of them blew one up right next to their boat because he said we have too many right now thinking it wouldn’t set them all up. Lit it up like a Christmas tree and everyone died 😂 I met them and owned up to my plan on the ferry of the damned we all had a great laugh... I miss being new to this game 😂😂

Sometimes I keep gunpowder on hand in case a ship is chasing me just drop them off the rear and hope they don’t notice. This has worked twice for me, I tend to flee instead of fighting as my sailing abilities are far more superior than my combat when it comes to pvp. Also you can use the hurricane that moves around the map to lose your pursuers, if your crew is experienced enough you can either sail through and try to lose them or follow the wind and keep them behind you. No matter if I’m playing solo or with my crew I always use the brig. It’s always been good to me.

On the topic of new ships: I believe a way the devs could implement new ships without drastically changing the game is adding variants to each ship. For example the brig, they can bring in a 3 manned ‘Junk’ that has bow and stern cannons instead of broadside and is fastest in cross winds. Or maybe for the sloop they can add another 2 man ship the ‘flute’, which on spawn has barrels that are stocked with supplies, it isn’t particularly the fastest in any category but it has gunpowder barrels/fire barrels that can be thrown off the back to deter chasers

I've seen a lot of folks on Galleons give up whenever they are chased by experienced brigs/sloops. As someone who has captained many sloops and Galleons I'll offer this tidbit- You can always outrun your foe. It's common knowledge that Galleons are faster in the wind and Sloops against the wind. So long as you sail in the wind as a galleon your top speed is higher than even a sloop also in the wind. If you're trying to escape in a Galleon always sail into the wind, you may need to double back or go around but you can outrun anything this way. If you're a sloop you can always escape larger ships by sailing against the wind. If you're a brig...well you're gonna have to play that by ear. Sail into the wind against sloops and against the wind with galleons.

A semi intended part of both the emissary and portal system. Loot is dropped when a ship portal hops. If you do tall tales, like the Shroudbreaker, can other players steal quest items and prevent you from completing it? I'm a new player with no SoT friends so I'm always anxious that I'll lose like 3 hours of progress. I generally avoid other players because I am NOT good at PvP and my hands cramp sometimes so I'm not quick on the controls either, haha. I really wanna finish the quests, though.

No. They can take the item from you. But, you can still finish the tale. Most Tall Tales have checkpoints now. So, you can relog and start from the last checkpoint you got. :)

So many dummies saying it’s fake. There’s literally a commendation for it and I’ve sailed with people who’ve gotten it.

too many times have i lost treasure to a hostile sloop that i mistook for a friendly one... rip my countless emissary flags

Using strategy harpoon over shipwreck needs special skills - straight hands) cant even collect barrels with harpoon)

I just realised, isn't the buried treasure feature really good for tuck players, they can ditch their ship, steal some treasure, bury it on a nearby island, and come back later to collect it?
@ArtSkunkVRC3 жыл бұрын
Well it depends, if you get boarded they can swipe your map off the map table. And not sure as I haven’t played enough since the update to get sunk by an enemy but there’s a possibility the map will float like treasure does if the ship sinks. That said, I did set up a nasty trap with a bunch of powderkegs I buried and posted the map on the board. Lol I was feeling mean that night.

I’m the guy with the ship setup that makes me look kinda like a smelly sloop from a distance, so people tend to ignore me…….never underestimate the sneaky!

i wish they'd get rid of the ability to portal hop with the emissary flag. just have entering the portal remove it, and force you to raise it again when you leave the quest. the pirates life tall tales don't give emissary value anyway, so being able to keep your emissary status makes no sense.

Hehe, I run the Shores of Plenty sails when I sail. They make other ships act really weird.

I normaly dont change my sails on a sloop, only if I realy need to go faster

I remember when I was fishing at a wreck and 2 people boarded me and ate every fish in my barrel. I had a blackclowd wrecker and a snowy. I'm pretty sure they ate them all though but I really hope they took the expensive fish for themselves. That shit is worse than someone just throwing their loot into the water.

Earlier today I saw this dude fighting a kraken, and he survived, which mean he collected loot. I had a siren skull final destination to go to and he was in the way so I went around, but he dived away… I kinda feel bad for him he lost his stuff from the kraken, I wish Text chat has more range I wouldn’t have attacked him

We had just turned all our loot in and saw a ship coming at us Chased us for 10 min so we decided to screw it and fight before getting off Dude immediately turns around and runs off and this cycle continues for about an hour where he won’t fight but chases and runs We eventually just sailed to the Red Sea and scuttled to waste more of his time

I was doing a reaper run on a galleon and a sloop kept going up wind so we just steamrolled them because we could catch up in two seconds

If I see any ship I assume they saw me as well and are out for blood and Im out as a solo my bullshit meter is always on 10. I consider myself a smuggler and I take pride in being uncatchable I like the rush of a good chase and escape.
