Hey! In my book its written phenol has stronger hydrogen bonding compared to alcohol,can you explain it how? Wouldnot be it all stacked up and occupy do much space and disturbs the bonding ? is due to
@Leah4sci
@Leah4sci 9 ай бұрын
Since phenol allows the oxygen to resonate its electrons into the benzene ring, the negativity is pulled down and away from the hydrogen more than just on a regular alcohol. If the H is left more exposed and more partially positive, it will have stronger H-bonding as a result

Which compound have strongest hydrogen bond between ethanol and ethanoic acid?
@Leah4sci
@Leah4sci 2 жыл бұрын
This question is not explicitly covered in this video. However, I can say that ethanoic acid has stronger forces of intermolecular attraction because, through resonance, it has the potential to form hydrogen bonds at two points within the molecule. For help with questions like this and more, I recommend joining the organic chemistry study hall. Details: leah4sci.com/join or contact me through my website leah4sci.com/contact/
