Why is no one on either side of the euthanasia debate addressing the issue of suffering that could be prevented by providing better support for patients who are exhausted from the burden of excessive "self care" expectations and challenges of daily living for which they have insufficient resources (physical, emotional, cognitive or other circumstantial demands exceeding capacity)? The speaker mentions the dangers of over emphasizing autonomy re: euthanasia yet health professionals (especially mental health providers) routinely impose expectations of greater autonomy on over burdened ,burned out (& often isolated) patients and families through cruel accusations and criticism that patients are behaving irresponsibly or being unreasonably demanding if they ask for more support such as respite care ,extended recovery/rehabilitation care , or assistance with daily tasks that expend energy patients need to reserve for recovery specific activities like physical, occupational, and other therapies, rest and engagement in social, emotional and cognitively stimulating activities etc.

So instead we should waste tax payer money on keeping people who want to end their suffering alive? These euthanasia opponents are illogical.
