Let me add this, I knew Marvin personally from many years ago. He has always been a "shady" person despite what some others have said about him. He even managed to get me in a bit of trouble in my youth.

What about the substantially larger vessel? Did that sink, too? Surely someone would have reported the boat and its occupants missing. Authorities might have put those pieces together. But that's just a shot in the dark. By the way, "Max & Marvin" would be a great name for a buddy movie.

Good morning, Dr. Grande! It's good to hear that Dr. Moy survived pancreatic cancer. All of the people I ever knew who had the disease died of it. As for Moy's disappearance when he was shortly due to appear in court, too many coincidences are too coincidental. That's from "The Flintstones;" I only quote from the best. I believe that he stage managed his disappearance, had secreted money away with this in mind, and left the poor schnook he took on board with him to tell a tale of him drowning.

I am really at sea over this case. If Marvin wanted to kill himself, why go to so much fuss, even putting someone else's life at risk for no reason? If Max's story was true, why wasn't the collision reported by the larger vessel? To me none of the alternatives sound likely. But the fact that Marvin was nowhere in sight immediately after the incident makes me feel that he was never there in the first place. Maybe Marvin paid Max to go out in the boat alone, and then Max fell asleep. But that doesn't explain the unreported collision.
@meanmole3212 Жыл бұрын
Because Marvin was operating the bigger boat and did not report the collision.
@bevbag2715 Жыл бұрын
Sadly, this wouldn't be the first collision of a large vessel to collide with a smaller one and continue their trajectory as if nothing happened. There is video footage this very thing occurring, one large vessel pummeled through a Coast Guard ship and kept on their course. Marvin Moy was very generous and kind to his friends. Please be kind to his memory. He would not intentionally risk Max Wong's life (or anyone's life for that matter). Also, it is very easy to disappear at sea and also, often difficult, for helicopters to spot a human in the ocean. The water temperature was about 63 degrees that day which is cold enough to begin to loose dexterity. I highly doubt that his friend would risk his life in some sort of planned escape.
@ojgsk8ter7 ай бұрын
Exact same reason people commit hit and runs in cars. Maybe the person piloting the larger vessel was afraid of getting sued, losing his job, etc if he owned up to the collision. Maybe he wasn’t following proper procedure or he was intoxicated and was worried he’d be arrested if he admitted to causing the boat collision. Lots of reasons someone might not report it.

To my ear, it sounds like the boat was lost at sea. It's extremely difficult to believe that, for any amount of money, you could talk me into floating at sea until the Coast Guard might--if I'm lucky, save me. Even if the timing of the fishing trip was planned to coincide with Marvin's court date, nothing of the aftermath of the rescue sounds like a planned escape. Where's Marvin? Where's the boat? Did Max just "play along"? I think this is a case of unfortunate coincidence.

There is video footage this very thing occurring, one large vessel pummeled through a Coast Guard ship and kept on their course. Marvin Moy was very generous and kind to his friends. Also, it is very easy to disappear at sea and also, often difficult, for helicopters to spot a human in the ocean. The water temperature was about 63 degrees that day which is cold enough to begin to loose dexterity. I highly doubt that his friend would risk his life in some sort of planned escape. If they had planned it, they most definitely wouldn't be 25 miles off the shore - way to risky.

The questioning of the others who had turned down the fishing trip . May of provided much more information about the trip and it’s outcome . Why they had refused and how often and what connections they had to the doctor. And any of his past under the table money transfers . And the type of mindset or verbal or visual body clues that may add to any suspicious behavior . As well as others who may of gone on trips as well . The working crew or those were the normal working crew that had been taken . And how many crew members had the good doctor taken with him on the fishing trips before . And had they seen any dangers before that may of even had the past crews may of had observed or caused them to avoid taking such fishing trips. As well as the past areas of fishing and any documents or verbal locations of past fishing locations . And if possible this was a shipping lane . That had been avoided before . But this time had been a sudden change in fishing locations. Many more details may allow further support adding credibility to any of or even add new possibilities .

This is most definitely going to be a future Unsolved Mysteries episode. AIS radar would’ve revealed a potential vessel strike, yet no such vessel was ever found with damage by USCG. Since no exact collision location can be pinpointed, only a slick, using any sonar to reveal the boat at the bottom will be similarly difficult to find. The most curious thing is all the cargo vessels in the area were not found with any damage.
