I always wake up dehydrated despite drinking plenty during the day, and I crave a big fruit bowl for breakfast: always melon and watermelon, followed by a juicy mango, pomegranate, apricots, banana, citrus, more fruit of all kinds, also frozen pineapple, berries, in winter I also eat microwave apples - delicious!

I'm surprised we were talking sugar vs artificial sweeteners and leaving out the 'no sugar added' or even 'low sugar' option?? Some artificial sweeteners are practically sugars chemically - so it's not much of a comparison - depending on the type. I think dr ekberg did a whole powerpoint on this!

Many liquids contain sodium benzoate or potassium benzoate as a flavor preservative. People may want to decide how much of this they want to eat. Benzine can be a product resulting from breakdown of benzoates, ex: exposed to acid like in the stomach.

Dr Barnard indicated that massive amts of water is not necessary if one's expenditure is low (minimal perspiration, sedentary job etc.) However for those with IBS-D, or resection of large colon, or other liquids malabsorption issues, isn't copius amts. of water with electrolytes necessary?

why not just consume food with water to have electrolytes and other nutrients? Salt is just so isolated with water - it's missing everything else.

I'm so surprised to hear that soda is ok ...I watched a mechanic use a can of coke to clean their engine off. That was many years ago and I haven't had a soda since . 😮
@extropiantranshuman4 ай бұрын
well if it cleaned the engine - why can't it clean you?
@PhysiciansCommittee4 ай бұрын
In this episode, the nuances around sugar-sweetened beverages such as fruit juice, sports drinks, and soda were explored. Soda is certainly not a health drink, and we are not suggesting regular consumption. Water and whole-food, plant-based foods are preferred picks when it comes to hydrating and replenishing nutrients such as electrolytes 🙂
@extropiantranshuman4 ай бұрын
I just don't get why using something to clean an engine is unhealthy. Are you saying that if something can't clean an engine off - it's healthy? Adding fresh oil to an engine will clean it. I've personally cleaned my car engine with aloe vera gel and matcha green tea (because someone put a flame thrower near my engine and so it was too overheated to work properly - so I thought if these cool me off - why not use it on the engine?), so now these are unhealthy - because it's an 'engine cleaner'? We're not cars ok - we're human beings!! For me, I feel what's good for myself is good for a car, a plant, an animal, etc. - and sometimes vice versa, but it's no guarantee. I think making false comparisons just doesn't make sense. This reminds me of the whole 'margarine is unsafe because no bug will go near it and it lasts forever'. Well there's certain seeds that last for thousands of years too - are they unhealthy as well? Just because bugs don't go near something and it doesn't break down - doesn't make it unhealthy. We can't just take cicrumstance and then apply them everywhere as a rule! What if you put fruit puree in your car engine - would that make the food 'healthy' all of a sudden - because it gunked up your engine? This is absolutely ridiculous.

if you want better ideas - you can watch Dr. Esser's talk - he talks green juices and salads.

@@PhysiciansCommittee Sugar, while sometimes cooling, can also heat up the body (it converts to energy in the body! Movement = heat), so to keep inflammation at bay - it's nice to eat anti-inflammatory foods - in one's drink too. It's just if you drink sugar or salt as electrolytes - it's not the end of the world and will help out save one's life if it's between consuming what's unhealthy with what is - during these extreme situations of exercising that don't apply to everyday life. In everyday life - SOS is preferred to avoid, but when the body's in an unhealthy state like hyponatremia or hypoglycemia - salt and sugar are lifesavers! An unhealthy food becomes a miracle to living! I get it, who knows about them.

What terrible advice; to drink fruit juices. they are so sugar laden. This doctor hasn't added 1 plus 2. considering how many people have insulin resistance.
@dianat103145 ай бұрын
Sugar does not cause insulin resistance. Dr. Walker Kempner reversed type 2 diabetes feeding patients sugar. However, it was the elimination of fat from animal products and ultra processed high fat junk that reverse type 2 diabetes.

if you have insulin resistance - then this is not for you - this is for regular people who're exercising. It's hard to find people with insulin resistance exercising - because they tend to either not exercise or get injured from exercising. If you have insulin resistance - then maybe a green juice works better? I use that myself.
