Great analysis. In case you are interested, Fenn illustrates in his primer on thermodynamics book how to derive the behavior of power requirement versus temperature delta - which ends up being a quadratic relationship.

Hi Michel, Why does USA use BTU units? This is such an antiquated unit. The rest of the world uses kW which is much simpler.

Yes, I wish they would switch here. But the political clout the big corporations have here will prevent that from happening for a long time.

Mr. Professor 22 kWh is huge house. Mr. Professor what are the heat loses establisched in USA (W/m2)? EU wants zero emission houses and the thickness of the wall should be about 90 cm.

We do have some new rules here, but not as drastic as that. For example where we live we must install double pane windows.
