Practice Questions for students on concept of above video. Students are required to solve these questions and verify the answers given and for Q3. Solve the question and post your answer in comment section for discussion and verifying your answers. In all below questions take g = 10m/s². Q1. A 4kg block is placed over 8kg block on a rough ground. Friction coefficient between 8kg and ground is 0.5 and that between the two blocks is 0.2. A force F is applied horizontallay on 8kg block. Find at what value of F sliding will start between 8kg and ground then at which value sliding will start between the two blocks ? Ans [60N, 84N] Q2. A 7kg block is placed over 5kg block on a rough ground. Friction coefficient between 5kg and ground is 0.3 and that between the two blocks is 0.5. A force F is applied horizontallay on 5kg block. Find at what value of F sliding will start between 5kg and ground then at which value sliding will start between the two blocks ? Ans [36N, 96N] Q3. A 10kg block is placed over 20kg block on a rough ground. Friction coefficient between 20kg and ground is 0.1 and that between the two blocks is 0.2. A force F is applied horizontallay on 20kg block. Find at what value of F sliding will start between 20kg and ground then at which value sliding will start between the two blocks ? Ans [Post Your Answer of Q3 in comment section to verify]

3:40 is it not possible that M2 slides over M1 before they move together with a common acceleration. Suppose if value of limiting friction for M2 is less than value of limiting friction for M1 , in that case is it not possible that M2 slides over M1 before they both(M1 and M2) start moving together?

answer is 30N to start the sliding between the block and ground, and 90N for sliding between blocks, as 60 will be required for upper block to slide and 30 for the lower and ground = 90N.
