PHYTOPLANKTON HOW DARK IS DARK ENOUGH

I will use phytoplankton and different culture growth stages to show you cultures that are mature enough to use and cultures that are not. I will also show you a unhealthy culture and what you maybe able to do to save it.

how can you determine if the culture has crashed? I have just started growing but it seems that there is 'algae' growing on the bottom of the tank, almost like the phytoplankton has settled on the bottom and the rest of the tank the colour is lighter than what it was at the start a week ago, i added more fertilizer to the tank over the weekend but today, Monday, it seems it didn't make a difference? I cant' find any youtube video showing a crashed phytoplankton culture or what to look for?

question ... when the phytoplankton is ready (center bottle) can some of that be used to start other bottles ? wondering how much live phytoplangton liquid is actually needed
