l never understood the modals until this video. I would not want to explain my understanding here because … lol. That made me to end up setting the whole stuff aside. Now I’ve picked it high gear! Thanks a lot Warren.

Hey Bro. Warren thanks for the lesson. I'm still here. I had a nice experience last Thursday. I attend a friend's birthday party. His name Willie and he's a great local guitarist. He plays in a small combo that play the top 40 (mostly old) Pop songs. I got chance to sit and play Keyboard. I played "When the Saints Go Marching In". I played it in the key of F, went really well. I'm still playing for my church. Practicing for Easter (I prefer to call it Resurrection Sunday). Hope you and your family are doing well. Blessings and HAPPY Resurrection Sunday 😊

Oh my GOODNESS!!! I KNOW you've taught this, on the site and here as well....but I've looked at it all wrong. I've tried to use parallel minor concept with the aeolian mode (relative minor) This is such an eye opener. MODES have stumped me for years, yet I could HEAR the concept. I believe your examples will also help me in talk music Thanks Again!❤ pswain

I am familiar with my chords and fluent. What this is giving me is a way to make sense of many common non diatonic notes/chords that pop up. I hear the parallel minor changes all the time. For me then, I am taking the parallel minor modes through keys until they are greased lightning. I think of this this way. I sub a dominant 7 for the five chord of the natural minor on the same root and a Major chord for the root. This is what I hear happening a lot. So, it’s a case of weaving in and out of the two keys, the major key and its modes and the doctored Aeolian (natural) minor modes of the same root, but including the changes to the root and 5 chords which remain as they were in the major - ie, in C. C major, half dim, Eb major, F minor, G7 (maybe G7#5) , Ab maj , Bb Major, C major. All mixed in with Major modes.

I keep hearing you shift in and out of the "church modes" when referencing "the" parallel minor. More specifically, sometimes I hear you playing a harmonic minor scale (which is *not* one of the seven "church modes") rather than a "natural" minor scale (AKA the Aeolian mode). (This is not necessarily a bad idea, of course. Consider, for example, the melody of "What Child Is This?", which starts in either the Dorian or the Aeolian mode (depending on how you play it) and ends in the melodic minor mode - another minor mode that's not one of the "church modes".)
