Be careful as not all the companies mentioned actually have their product made in Japan. Yamaha has some of their stuff made in China. Korg is the only one that actually has a sticker on their equipment that says 'made in Japan'. Kurzweil is owned by a Chinese company (Young Chang I believe) and that's where their synth are made.

For some reason I choose years later the D70 and although it is not per se the "facelift " of the D50 but from the U220 (it was marketed D70 to capitalize the success of the D50) I still felt instantly in love with it. The D70 was my loyal companion on all my covers band from 1994 til 2000. Yes I know, it sounded sometimes a little bit "thin", but it was easy to program and I appreciate the 76 keys with four zones.

However suprisingly the rest of the band/audience seemed to like it (or my playing ;)😘) as it seemed we were doing a good thing together as the band, I remember someone made a demo while we were freestyle jammimg live before starting the night show , only then did I hear firstly how it did sound good, but also how actually good (as a band) we were playing. I would love to be able to play keyboards but no matter how many times I have tried to learn, the coordination of finger to keys wont stick, which is odd because I have excellent hand eye coordination. Too late to learn now @ 58.

I still have mine circa 1988 or so ... the pad connections on the inside have gone bad so several keys no longer work. Probably not a huge fix if there are parts around somewhere.

I think you can easily fix it

Very nice video! .... at 80s, Kids playing NES Mario bros game, and The Digital Keyboards: The kings (in my opinion, in no particulary order): Yamaha DX-7 (E-pianos and Bass) & Roland D-50 (Horns and Pads). Regards from Sao Paulo-Brazil 10k is coming soon!

São os melhores, mesmo sendo os mais antigos com timbres que marcaram época. DX7, D50, D70, M1, entre outros.

Out of interest, the Vanishing Point lead is doubled with the first patch (Elegant) from the Yamaha YS-200.
