I have always said for all the arts, if you practice badly, you'll do it perfectly bad. I love your scale example. Take care.

I've loved "Practice makes permanent," but I think yours is my new favorite saying!

Hello Susan, really good channel here. Any tips on learning multiple pieces at a time? My son has been assigned 3 pieces in preparation for Gold Cup competition. I’ve attempted to moved from single piece (intermediate), to 3 charts (two pop, and 1 classical - Debussy (inter advance). My progress is much slower, but I don’t feel as frustrated …and the need to search for new songs). Also, I hid all my other scores, tried 4 songs and jumped bw them when I got stuck. My goal is 1 page/months time frame on the Pop hits, and 1 yr on Debussy.

It sounds like you have a good system right now. I definitely prefer taking on multiple pieces at a time rather than just 1. If you don't have time to get good practice in with each of your pieces (every single time you practice), the best, quick advice I can offer is to play through the pieces that you DON'T have time for at an easy and controlled pace. This just keeps everything fresh in your mind without taking up a lot of time. Good luck!
