I like how the Piccadilly line is the only old train that has an interior electric board and the Central line is the only modern train that doesn't have one

The piccadilly announcements are my favourite cause they sound so professional like your boarding an aircraft and demonstrating safety procedures before taking off

Probably the scariest one is: Attenion! Please leave the train now! Please leave the train now!

Used when trains are in imminent danger... like a runaway train headed your way. That is scary.

For a long time, Piccadilly line trains didn't have the automatic announcement system. I remember the stations themselves had a speaker system and played a recording every time a train stopped in the platform - with a different voice for each station! Kinda gave the stations a personality...

I loved these announcements. So very, very English! Very calm and proper. I can fantasize that same, calm voice stating that the next station has been obliterated and apologizing for any inconvenience it may cause....

My favorite announcements, I like the professionalism of Julie Berry’s work.

True...but people have a tendency to zone out of the Automated voice. People, especially in rush hour, would realize something is up when they hear the driver's voice. Reassurance and whatnot

Also, does anyone have the recordings of the old male annoncer??? I can remember just before the piccadilly line train entered a station that a recorded man would say 'please mind the gap between the train and the platform'. This is sad but his line is my childhood, used to go from hounslow west to central london every weekend!!

Wow! Thats alot of announcements! In fact, most of them we don't hear everyday or are mostly read by the driver! Very good video!

@Psevdonim123 Жыл бұрын
In my country there's a system in suburban trains that is announcing to the driver which signal is next, and I was once on a train where either the wiring was mixed up or there were something else wrong with it either way we heard EVERY SINGLE ANNOUNCEMENT that system gave, including signals, speed limits and the track number that train will switch to (though the last one was quite handy to determine on which side the doors will open)

+TopGearrules There was an interesting Radio 4 program on that voice. The man who recorded it died from cancer at a relatively young age and his wife liked hearing his voice on her commute. I think she managed to get it back on some District line stations in the centre after a campaign.
