As of this edit (November 2024), the Kaeru severs is the only one working. When I connect with the internet thigh my 3Ds configuration my hotspot appears and I can easily and successfully connect and run a internet test. But when I go to the Pokémon guardian signs game, I have to connect again to the internet I try to put and follow the steps of the video but an error code: 51099 and this happens with in every device I try to share internet with. Does anyone know how I can I fix it?

@@paperbag0018 So apparently that's a problem with your configuration. So try another secondary DNS, see if that work, or it maybe it's your hotspot security setting; remember that non-dsi enhanced game can only connect using a WEP connection (or no with security at all).

This is a blessing, I can't thank you enough! I've sadly got into the Ranger series right at the end of gen 4, so I sadly missed most of the missions available at the time save for the Giratina and Arceus one. I tried this method out as you instructed and I managed to get the rest of the missions. It feels like a miracle to get these missions that have been lost to time. I was about to do this, and apparently my copy of Guardian Signs already had all the missions, and I just didn’t notice. I didn’t connect my DS ever until long after these events ended, and I didn’t know a method to download them existed until this year, so this is raising way more questions than answers. LOL.

Hm... it didn't work for me. I wonder, what I did wrong? I doesn't seem too difficult... Edit: okay, I at least got a connection via the Hotspot, but got the error code about the nintendo wi-fi connection not being available... so that's a thing out of my control, is it? @@Pichu647 okay, that's interesting. Later on, somehow managed to establish a connection, but it was very unstable. So I had to reset the hotspot and the settings on the DS numerous times. But after a good hour or so, I eventually managed to download all of the missions. So, thanks a lot for the tutorial It helped me a lot to finally play the missions I already wanted to play years ago as a kid!

Yes, I know.; that's why this video uses the Wiimmfi connection, as demonstrated within the "DS Connection Setup" section of the video.

If you can't do a hotspot or guest network, another thing you can do is to go to some place with public wi-fi. Try to find a place with only one connection instead of multiple by the same name cause that seems to mess it up.

@aaronmathews6932 I don't use a phone emulator, so I wouldn't have a clue what extensions it supports. You'll probably need to convert it to whatever the emualtor supports from the sounds of it

Unfortunately I didn't manage to make it work. I used a Xiaomi phone and a Huawei tablet with both secondary DNS settings possible and when the console tries to establish a connection it gets green for a while but then it cuts and gives an error. EDIT: Nevermind, actually setting up a guest network in the router itself worked! Thanks a lot for this helpful tutorial, for a while I thought I would never be able to play the special missions of the Ranger games!

It might be your device, network settings, DNS numbers or mistakenly inserted DNS details in the wrong location (I have done this by mistake a few times). I'm guessing at this point coz I don't know what you've done to that point

I can’t get it to work. Using an open hotspot from an Australian google pixel phone, running the games on a US New 3DS model, and I’ve tried the DNS on the video and the pinned comments, both give me a discontinued notice.

@Kooptroopa 1. It might be Ur phone. For some reason it may not work on some phones, so you might have to go to a Macca's or wherever there's free WiFi to do it. Or u could set up a guest WiFi on ur router and try that way. Or 2. You may have put the DNS numbers in the wrong configuration. Simple mistake, I've done this before. Someone mentioned the pinned comment worked yesterday, so I'm going to believe it still works

I have never played these games but would like to get the manaphy for my ss save. Can I use this dns exploit to get the egg even if a previous (deleted) save had them downloaded? Pkmn Ranger only allows one egg per game, does this apply for these missions and games aswell?

Define deleted. Did you overwrite someone elses save? Then the answer is no. Or did you completely wiped the save, similar to a brand new game. Then the answer is yes.

Probably not. I hear the DS VC has no online capabilities, so it's very unlikely this would work. Save injection possibly, but that would probably require home-brew, a way to extract the save, then a way to Import the save back into the wii u. These are hypotheticals as I don't own the game on wii u

Hey, I know this video is old as hell, but it’s the most recent one discussing this topic. I have a Modded 3Ds. Shadows and Guardian Signs are built into it through NDS bootstrap. It is set to Pretendo servers. I try connecting with my iPhone hotspot, using the server in the pinned comment. If the “Maximum Compatibility” setting is OFF, I get a 51099 error code, “Unable to find a compatible access point.” If the setting is ON, I get a 51101 error code, “Unable to connect to the access point.” I’m not entirely certain what any of this means unfortunately, so IDK if I’m on the right track. What do you think my next steps are?

@@crystalcrusader711 *Brainfart* 100% it's your security settings. Older DS games only supports WEP or no security. What ur using now is too secure. Within the access points, if the connection settings colour is Red or Gray then it won't work (gray may work but highly unlikely). It has to be blue, like in the video

You probably got the security settings wrong. Original DS games can only use WEP or no security connection. It might be harder to find a WEP connection, but if your WiFi has no security then anything should be able to use it. That's why I assuming that your security settings are incorrect

I appreciate this!! Though mine doesn't seem to be working. The bar shows that it connects, but after a couple seconds it disappears and it says unable to connect to Nintendo wifi connection. I've tried all the dns and I've messed with the settings with my hotspot and the such but I keep getting this error.

I tested it with 2 of my phone's and it worked on 1 but not the other. If possible, try it with another device and see if you have better luck with that

I am currently wanting to buy a guardian signs cartridge, but I heard if the event pokemon were already transferred you can’t get anymore (mainly just want manaphy)? Is there a way to sort of reset the game without needing to do pc stuff?

Nope. You need to essentially wipe the cartridge clean to re-send the event missions. This is not possible without an external device and a PC.

@@LustfulMikan98 Not quite sure how to wipe a save clean to be honest. What I did was import a brand new sav into my cartridge, pretty much the same thing. You can do this with an external device or a modded 3DS

Nothing from Wiimmfi stating otherwise. All I can say is try the 3 different DNS's, whatever the 2 in the video are or leaving it blank. Alternatively, use your home router as a guest network, you'll need to do homework on that as each router is different. Same rules as the hotspot method, security on WEP/None.

If you delete save data on a ranger game with the wifi missions, does that wipe the missions too?

Depends. If you're wiping clean the save data then yes, if you're just starting a new game then no

Ah I see. Im pretty sure starting new game wouldn't spawn new transfers from the missions if you've done it once right?

@@omerzubair39 Correct. If the Event Pokemon are sent then you cannot send another one, regardless if you start a new game or not. To send multiple Pokemon you will need to import a Sav BEFORE the Pokemon is sent, or wipe clean the cartridge and re-download the events

@星雨 Correct, it's no longer possible. To send another Manaphy you'll need to wipe your SAV file clean, almost like a factory reset on a phone. Resetting the game will not completely delete your game. To get a brand new save file you'll either need to use a hacked 3ds with homebrew or use an external device, like the r4idongle

If the current DNS servers dont work for you, you might also want to try: Primary DNS: 178.62.43.212 Secondary DNS: Leave it as blank aka 0.0.0.0 I just used it today (August 2024) for my Pokemon Ranger Guardian Signs and i was able to download the Ranger Net missions.

I think I used the French save for this example, I don't remember. Regardless, it shouldn't matter what language you use. It's probably your device, for whatever reason it doesn't work on some devices. You could use another phone or create a guest network with your home router

It never worked for me, I also have a Samsung phone and set the exact same setting with the primary DNS and secondary DNSes, I also know thst the primary DNS has shut down and theres a new one, but it doesnt work either... Error code is 52100

I just tested it right now and it still work on my end. I upgraded from the Z Flip to the Z Flip3 since then but it was the same result. I guess make sure that you're actually connected to your Hotspot. My hotspot says "Nintendo DS" with the previously connected devices. Another thing, don't touch "Auto-obtain IP address". It looks very similar, I accidently turned it off by mistake just now, just make sure that was left on default. Other than that, all the settings are the same as in the video.

It should work (depending if the servers are working or not) It's not reliant on the system but the game (besides the og DS and lite). For example, if I were to play gen 4 game they can only connect via a WEP connection. But DSi enhanced game, like gen 5, can use a similar connection to the 3ds.

Normal WiFi doesn't exist anymore coz Nintendo disconnected their servers back in 2014, I think. This is the alternative method

However, it seems my iPhone will only let the hotspot be accessible through a password. Yeah, highly unlikely that a modern phone would support a WEP connection. You can make a guest gateway through your router, each modem is different so you would need to do your own homework; other people said this worked for them

I tried to install the Ranger Net missions but it couldn't work for me, even though I followed your directions very carefully 🥺 I even used 2 different Samsung phones... Perhaps the exploit won't work with PAL DS game cards? At least it worked for most people and that makes me happy. I never understood why Nintendo took down the Pokemon Ranger events in the first place...

Unlikely coz DS games are region-free so it shouldn't matter what region the game is from (excluding JP Ranger 1). As for the server, yeah, Nintendo is very anti consumer with that. Thing like the PS3 and 360 still work today

I too am a huge fan of the older pokemon games! It pains me that Game Freak doesn't make spin-offs like Guardian Signs & Shadows of Almia anymore. They truly were amazing games that shaped everyone's childhood.

@@steeppower7 Ok, I had to do some testing but from what I'm seeing is that the Wiimmfi servers are currently acting up. Not just on this game but on like Mario Kart and other Pokemon games. I guess try again later coz there's not much I can do on my end

I'm so upset that the regular Pokemon ranger doesn't have this option to connect to wifi. I just grinded the entire game, thank god I still had my Shadows of Almia game..I was running out of options to snag that Manaphy egg ^^;

Well typically you need to reach a certain part of the game to play some missions, I couldn't tell you when but some are mid game while others are post game

@@Pichu647 I had just finished the main story. I had the deoxys secret mission already added. I was going to try to enter the mission passcode, but I couldn't pull up the foretold "enter passcode screen" for whatever reason.

@@hanburgerbun You probably already know it but you press R, X, and left (on the D-pad) simultaneously to pop up the code thing. Only the Japanese version of Ranger needs to download the mission, every other language is pre installed; which I think most people would prefer honestly

@hanburgerbun D-pad is short for directional pad. So left on the d-pad, not the left (L) shoulder button

Hi, I've seen your way on how to get the Ranger net missions but I'm going to tell you this: I've been trying to use this method for but all I receive is an error that says: Unable to find a compatible access point. Confirm SSID settings or move within range of a compatible access point. That what the error I'm getting says which is preventing me from getting the Ranger Net missions and need some help, please? And by the way, this issue is not the only one that is keeping from getting those ranger net missions, the same errors also happen to a HeartGold and SoulSilver gift Pokémon method I learned from this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2Snn4qXm9yWaqM too.

@AaronHurt-j6h Yeah the DNS changed, the Kaeru one should work. It might take a few attempts for some reason through, not sure why
