Unbelievably, I had a sunburst Strat with the old "wound G" pick-ups, that I bought for a few hundred bucks in 1981, kept it for a while, didn't really bond, had a TERRIBLE solid-state "practice amp", ended up selling it after a few months, cos I just wasn't getting any joy from it. TBH, I had no idea what I had. I don't know exactly what year it was but probably early 60's. Now I have a better understanding of what I had, I kick myself from time to time. This video makes me wanna cry a bit. Very nice McCready likes in the intro too, thanks for that !!

Honest question: With what everyone knows about the vintage market, why would an owner not keep the original parts when upgrading to newer parts? This guitar's bridge and tuner replacements look like they required no modifications, meaning the old parts could be reinstalled if a new owner wanted 100% authenticity. I know old parts can be sold for really good money, but if you are devaluing the price of your guitar by not having the originals with it when you sell, wouldn't it be a wash?

Most players were not that smart back then and still are not today... I have a early 34-35 dobro amplifier that had the tweed ruined by some hippy painting it black... And also a brown face bandmaster head and cab that were also « blackfaced »
@anthonyc18833 жыл бұрын
@@abubakr6939 Although certainly not as sinful as painting over tweed, but still bad, I actually watched a rare white Tolex Music Man amp hurriedly spray painted black when I was a bystander on the set of Light of Day, the 1980s movie with Joan Jett and Michael J. Fox. It was done to match the black amps onstage. And I never got to see the two stars!

Maybe I'm wrong but the mic takes the sound of the plettrum on the string, not only the amp. Guitarist and amp should be more far.
@darwinsaye5 ай бұрын
Nope. You’re not hearing the mic picking up the pick hitting the strings - what you are hearing is what great, clear, articulate pickups sound like. They are picking up all the fine nuances of his playing. That’s the magic of a good Stratocaster. You hear every little chime.
