That is some of the best model scenery I've seen. Lots of trees, shrubs and weeds. A good variation in textures and realistic colors show a dedication to good observation and modeling. The dubbed-in sound added a lot to the video, too. While I model American railroading, this is a very good model of English practices, judging from the many British steam era videos I've watched. I envy the British for their mainline steam tourist operations, something that has become rare in America.

Nice video. A cabotage train, the staple of railway traffic before the 1970's, great historical reminder ! And a 0-6-0, a staple of british railways nearly from the beginning to the end of steam. I never tire watching your videos, Lewis, especially the 'out of the ordinary' scenarios involving parts of the track we don't normally see (the goods yards, for example). The sound dubbing was extremely accurate and, as always the camera angles are wonderful. As I once wrote , my model railway is all about goods and shunting. So that was a special one for me . But I have one question as a continental railway fan . Why are the British goods wagons are so small in seize in relation to the ones used in mainland Europe . Looking forward to the next one . Maybe a future point . Yorkshire was coal country as the Ruhrgebiet in Germany , where I have placed my model railway . One big part of it is a complete coalmine with big loading area for trains . Would like to see how you would build one on a maybe expansion. Have a good time . Greetings from Germany

That’s a good question, I’m not really sure to be honest. That’s a great idea for a future project and would be very fitting for Yorkshire!

As an American, I immediately noticed you put knuckle couplers on all of your trains. I assume these are Bachmann E-Z Mates, since there’s a variant compatible with NEM coupler sockets.

They are Kadees, which I think might also be an American company right? The standard couplings on British trains are so ugly and annoying, I’m glad I switched over to knuckle couplers

I'm curious; have you considered the means by which 'in-universe' locomotives are able to change direction once they get to Misslethwaite?
@MouldyRaspberry2 жыл бұрын
I’m not 100% sure what you mean, but at Misselthwaite you view the train from the other side - so a train leaving travels left to right. On the main layout the viewer is on the other side of the tracks, so the train leaving Misselthwaite and coming out the tunnel travels right to left. That doesn’t mean it’s changed direction, you’ve just cross the line and are viewing it from the other side!
@TallboyDave2 жыл бұрын
@@MouldyRaspberry Not quite what I meant; a while back, you had a vid where a passenger train came into Misselthwaite, hauled by.... I think it was something like a Patriot, or maybe a Coronation; it ran around the train and back through the tunnel, before coming back, having been turned around in the interim on either a triangle or a turntable.
