I remember being 14 and I was dating this girl and her dad took me home in his straight piped 80s Chevy (honestly I can’t remember anything about what engine) and I remember him romping on it and it being soooo loud and intimidating 😂. My Mum has a 2008 Golf 1.9 TDi. 4 years ago, at about 90k miles. It started giving a turbo code known for being sticking vanes. I decided to try Revive Turbo Cleaner before the oven cleaner because you just spray it into the intake with the engine running. It takes about 10 minutes and costs about $40. I put some through each year when I service it now and Mum has had no problem since.

After watching several videos like this one with all the smog stuff on them I thank God for my 2000 Ram 2500 with 24 valve Cummins 5.9. It has 650,000 miles on it now and it has never had any issues.

Might want to look into dry ice blasting to clean up the diffusor vane plate ,if you're doing it in place.. Need to keep in mind- the pinion shaft seal(s) will see and deal with anything the impeller sees - Like the exhaust gas which drives the turbo. So the seals can be contaminated from the oven cleaner and depending on which seals are in the turbo it could cause severe damage or jeopardize the life span at minimum. My experience is 40 year centrifugal/turbo technician industrial products.

Just replaced the turbo in my 2015 GMC Duramax. $4600 to get a new one, turbo code vane position. Back in action now. Tried the turbo relearn several times. Worked for a while but would come back after a month or less.

I have a Black Belt in dealing with a dealership service department 😂 so anyway I was taught a rule to follow like religiously and that is if the vehicle still has bumper to bumper warranty you can take it to the dealership provided you have confidence in them but no warranty take it to a reputable mechanic that you trust and even then be skeptical of what you are told. TA, TAAA.😂

I almost bought a 2013 last year. Had a bad feeling so I walked away from it. It was Mocha Steel Metallic, and had about the same mileage as the red one in your video and very clean. But that Victory Red though...had a 2010 Impala with that same color. Wound up buying a 2023 Chevy in October of this year and loving it!

I love your channel! I have a 02 duramax with 275 . rusted out cab bottom and I have some rust in the frame but it still works like a champ. 2025 might see the cab come off if you keep encouraging me like this

No, the labor for a turbo is about 16 hours book time. If you ever need a vane position sensor it’s waste. Do the turbo

It’s also not an inflated cost either. Let’s say 16 hours x 250 is $4000. The turbo is $25-$3000 and then miscellaneous delays and parts are another 5-$1000. Not a rip off you’re just paying dealer price.

The 8k the dealer quoted is understandable if you understand it's gonna be in the shop three days cause it's not the only car and techs work on 2 to3 cars at a time, so if it's in the bay 3 days that's 24 hrs shop time at 200 a hour plus parts so 8k isn't bad when ya consider the years the tech has spent learning what the car owners don't know. I thankfully graduated to heavy diesels, tractor trailer. ❤🎉

@@norsevikingsir4932 well sounds like they are pretty well stuck. soak em down real good in the injector pocket with pb blaster or some kind of break away if you havent already. you have to try to get the injectors to start to rotate if you can. use pry bars on the injector body and the valve cover just to get em to budge a little bit back and forth and keep working em. and then try to pull em out. i know there isnt much room to do all that back there by the firewall. but that seems to always be my first step with stubborn injectors is to get em spinning as much as is allowed depending on the interference from valve cover casting and whatnot. and be patient with it. it may take a while to get results

put a crappy ebay 138.95 Gt45 turbo on it and some bigger injectors !! did it to my 1st gen cummins with some x14 s. it tears the tires off for a good 500 feet

That’s why people should only buy Cummin Diesels I’ve owned a second GEN Cummins with a turbo. Never had a problem Uses a work truck I took out the three-quarter ton transmission and I put a 1 ton I would never buy anything else other than a second GEN Cummins diesel. 5.9 best diesel ever built

A lot of the build up in the veins is caused by egr or other smog preventing devices, deleting them is the only way to have a trouble free diesel😂

Great Chanel Brother. I’m about to buy my first diesel. Looking at the GMC 2500 with Max Tow or 3500. Looking at 2016’s and older. Any advise would be much appreciated. New sub from Alaska. I’m open to Team Chevrolet as well. I’ve always been a hard core Toyota guy but I need to haul 16000 pounds of bumper pull flatbed load around like it was nothing. My Tundra 5.7 gasser could do it but I need a little more HP and more GVW.

That turbo looks like getting all that piping off on the backside, shielding etc, had it not been a cab removal would have been and absolute PITA to work with under the hood. Better to remove the cab so it looks like.

Just wondering, with all the cabs I see you pull, are you evacuating and recharging the A/C systems or you are you pulling the compressor and leaving it with the cab when it goes up. Gotta pull the cab on my LLY in the near future and trying to come up with a gameplan. Thanks!

You don’t need to evac the system, simply remove the a/c compressor with the hoses hooked up and let it go up with the cab 👍

Hey man, love the videos. I’ve been watching for several years now and I just recently purchased my first Diesel after owning several GM half tons. Everything’s been great except it has a P0299 DTC Turbo Underboost condition and I can’t seem to find much about the code. I’ve read something about a possible MAF sensor issue and I unfortunately don’t have a monitor yet. If you have any insight on this it would be greatly appreciated! 2016 LML
