One thing I really enjoyed about this video, is that with your screener, you were able to narrow it down to only 10 companies… and of those 10, I actually just added 2 to my watch list (just days before watching your video). Those are FMC and CAG. I will absolutely be adding FMC for more exposure to materials and AG inputs. CAG I’m looking for an entry point in the $26 range. Cheers

respectful efforts, mate. Thank you! Would be curious to hear your view on 3 things: 1. You use predominantly "rearview mirror". Do you feel the temptation to "look forward" a bit more or are disciplined not to bother much? 2. Other than comparing historical EV/EBIT, do intrinsic valuations / comparisons matter in your process? 3. Buying in a hyped up market may dilute the perceived quality of your choice. how do you deal with that? (even Buffett keeps some real powder on the sidelines these days). Do you consider timing "when" to deploy the portfolio?

Im sorry but at 1:16:29 Isnt the calculation wrong here since you added EV/EBIT like the other ones even though the lower it is the better it should be? Because the way you did the final calculation there a lower EV/EBIT would hurt the final score even though we want a low score for EV/EBIT right? Or did i misunderstand something?

Finally a video that shows fundamental analysis in action. I'm more so on the technical side (my circle of competence) but use quant screens to sort out the weak companies so this is golden content. I have one question. Why do you want to see a 10 year upside when you're staying invested for 1 year before moving on the new companies? Wouldn't like 3-5 years be sufficient?
@typicallyjc Жыл бұрын
It is truly wonderful that you would make such an educational, and inspiring video. Sure, I could copy the steps and invest according to your incredibly detailed analysis of this portfolio, but as a beginner I don’t really understand what a lot of this process is doing. I don’t really understand what a lot of these metrics represent, and why it is so important to understand them. I can’t even fathom the knowledge and experience it takes to come up with such a system - so my question to those who do this so effectively is how do you get to this level of competence in stock picking and detailed analysis of numerous metrics, and knowing what exactly to look for in a company? Where is a good place to start, and a good direction to take to hopefully one day be as knowledgeable as The great benevolent Swedish Investor, and countless other successful value investors. I want to effectively learn, and implement this into my life. How did you, (oh great knowledgeable one reading this comment), get to this level?

Allways enjoy your videos and look forward to the next. In regards to this one it’s been a though year to compete with the S&P500 which is up 15.1% YTD. This portfolio is up c. 5.6% YTD with 7 out of 10 stocks positive so far. Looks like TTEC is the only one that has really missed the mark (down 62.3% YTD). The year is not over yet. Looking forward to your review of the portfolio in December. What went right, what went wrong, what could one actually have done something about in advance and if there was any trigger points during the year one should have acted upon.

@Swedish Investor I am following you step by Step as I am a big fan of yours. Formulas didn't work for me even after removing USD in front and commas. So I saved this Excel file and reopened the entire thing in power query converted them all into whole numbers and imported them onto a new sheet. It worked. I think what happens is when you are getting data from the web Excel does not recognize number formatting automatically thus we get issues My recommendation is (to you and fellow tubers following you) 1) Download data from the Web to Excel and save the file 2) Reopen it in power query and covert all number columns to whole numbers 3) Save updates and load transform data onto a new Excel sheet 4) And you will see the correct number formatting. No need to remove $ or,. You can use formulas with $ and, as Excel recognizes these data as numbers now.

Regarding the comma that you need to remove, you can change the settings and put it the "american" way if you like (in Settings - > Advanced -> Use system separators) and there change it to the american way (invert . and ,) It's because Excel use your system language preference and in Europe (probably most of the world, we use . for thousands and , for decimals)

Now that you've purchased these 10 stocks, how do you intend on managing them? Is there a trading plan that i can get?
@TheSwedishInvestor Жыл бұрын
Hey seangreen8262, great question. I didn't manage to present everything that I wanted to in the intro when I was trying to keep it all in my head. I think I mentioned it somewhere, though, these stocks will be kept for a full 12 months until I, hopefully, make a similar video for 2025. Then, I will evaluate the results, and I'll pick a new portfolio with a similar method (if not the exact same one). So the intention is that these companies should be held for a little longer time, no trading.
