Picking Shoes for a Cosplay

TL;DR -- look and comfort are equally as important
So needless to say they are a super important part of a cosplay and should not be overlooked.
Look is all a matter of opinion, whether you want to look dead on with the original costume design, or you are like me and like to spice things up a little. Shoes should always be comfortable but also look good. You can always make shoes (semi)-more comfortable by adding jelly insoles or arch supports, but you can't really make a pair of sneakers look nicer to fit into a costume. So indeed I do try to find a good median between the two points, but if i must choose I ALWAYS GO FOR LOOK OVER COMFORT. But then i just add insoles or something to try and make them more comfy. I will add, that i never, I NEVER, will sacrifice comfort entirely for the look of a cosplay. If my character wears 5 inch stilettos on a 2 inch platform, I most likely will choose a more comfortable shoe that still looks somewhat similar to that of the original design.
