People don't watch Arsenal enough, when you look at who is playing on the left side compared to our right side you can see why Martinelli struggles more, Saka has Odegaard feeding him & Ben White making overlapping runs off the ball, on the LW Martinelli has Havertz feeding him & Zinchenko who always plays in the midfield so Martinelli is just left out on his own! Last season he had Xhaka who did so much for him, he isn't having an amazing season but there are many factors for that!

Yeah, I was going to make a similar comment. When we brought in Rice and Havertz, it introduced two players that didn’t know our system at all, and I think that had a big impact on Martinelli’s output before Christmas. There is a lot of choreographed off-the-ball movement involved in our positional play, and it meant we were always going to be less dialed-in on that side of the pitch this season. It also allowed opposition teams to double up on both Saka and Martinelli early in the season, because we struggled to progress the ball through the center of the pitch due to Rice and Havertz’s lack of familiarity. A lot of that has been rectified since the new year started and you’re seeing Martinelli affecting games much more now. I think he’ll have a big season next year if we can strengthen the striker position, adding even more threat through the middle, thereby leaving him more space to operate 1v1 out wide.

As a Liverpool fan, the reason Diaz doesn’t get shade is because he was so good the first season he was here. Like near unplayable, and then since he was injured, he hasn’t quite looked the same so we are waiting to see if he can find that form again.

Raya as a bad shout. Only reason he thinks Raya is overrated is because Ramsdale's shot stopping is better, which to my knowledge nobody disputes. But he most certainly is an improvement; cross claiming, ball playing, composure.

As a Liverpool fan I do kinda agree with Pato about Diaz. I love him and I think he has been through a lot and been consistent in terms of playing. But I just don’t see the numbers from him. Feels like he will spend a second or two too long on the ball and miss the opportunity to shoot or set up a teammate. Super hopeful he gets the consistently he needs

Agreed about Oshimen by the way, I hope he succeeds but there is something about him where I just think that Napoli is where its at for him and going elsewhere will go the Lukaku way or something similar. Same about Tony man, he is a good footballer but I remember one of the interviews I think you guys did with him when he came up to Premier league, before the first season even and there was a question about his Fifa rating of speed that was like 92 or something and he was saying that he deserves a higher one, a 100 even or something. I immidiately kinda disconnected from him mentally and knew I wouldnt be rooting for someone like that. It reminded me of why I dislike Salah, after that comment about how Harry Kane was the best striker in PL, untill he came, but at least Salah is world class and could concievably back up that claim.

As a city fan gvardiol was growing into the city system and started doing very well before the got injured. This is harsh because he was really good… he was holding down the whole of left side on his own, cutting in and shooting in on his weaker right foot.

Kounde is not playing rb by choice... Baldé is out for the season, so Cancelo has vacated the rb slot to cover lb. Secondly, Inigo did not cost anything... lastly, Kounde is 25 and only cost £45m and has played very well in RB whenever he plays there

Liverpool fans said dominik should be in the team of the season after 8-10 match weeks. I’m pretty sure 70-80% general football fans said the same. He was really good and probably one of the best midfielders in the league. He then had 2-3 games where he was off the boil and then he got injured. I haven’t seen any liverpool fan putting him in the team of the season or even saying he’s been Liverpools best midfielder for the past 2-3 months at least. If this list was made 4 months ago, there’s an argument that people rated him highly maybe deservedly. Right now putting dom in there is a big L from zac.

Bad take on Kounde. During the 1st half of the season when Araujo was injured, Kounde was our best CB. Then he got a nasty knee injury and was rushed back so the past few months he's been in poor form. Recently he's been solid and he locked up Kvara in both legs vs Napoli.

not to be nostalgic, but FD used to be such a rich place to listen about football outside of England. Now I feel, especially as the FD guys are getting more extensive roles in Sky, none of them actually watch/respect football outside of the Prem. Even the fact of saying "Raphinha can score against ALAVES but not much else" the dudes been injured so much this season and still managed to put up 1.05 goals and assists per 90. Last season, if one watched Barcelona, given Xavi played with only two up front and 4 midfielders, Lewandowski dropped off after the WC and Dembele got injured, Raphinha carried the Barcelona attack for the second half of the season where they WON the league. But ofc Henry dismisses that by saying, well he only scores against lower level opposition in La Liga. Im not saying Barcelona or Raphinha are perfect, but if we can afford so much context when analyzing the Prem, at least just go on understat or fbref before criticizing a player without reason@@elidir

You need to watch every game, otherwise you're saying player A is actually 80% good, not 85% like most people think (who's "most people"? No one's doing a survey). Truly overrated players need consistent praise and be underperforming consistently which people catch onto too quickly for their reputation to hold. Basically I wouldn't take it too seriously. raphinha's goals this season: Betis, Getafe, Almeria and Mallorca

Martinelli does not get the support that Saka does, when Havertz or Nketiah And Rice in the 8 plays they drift to the right with Saka, White and Odegaard which leaves Martinelli isolated. Look at last season when Xhaka and Jesus played who gave more balance in terms of side bias as the drifted left which helped a lot. Imagine if Martinelli had someone with the qualities of White and Odegaard on his side.

gvardiol point from zac is just plainly wrong, one hes not the most expensive defender in the world. and 2 if youve actually watched city this season gvardiol has been a consistent performer at leftback he has the technical ability of a midfielder at left back. it just really shows that you have not watched much of the or any of gvardiol this season if you are genuinely saying hes overrated. he became so good at leipzig whilst playing wide left. he can play either left back or centre back. its just a painful claim to hear when i know you just havent watched him season.

Martinelli has been injured, he’s had less support and plays on a team that doesn’t play to his strengths. He’s a striker by trade if you remember. HE IS IT. If he plays on a team that plays to his strengths, a direct team like Liverpool or Madrid, he’ll be getting balon d’Or shouts

On the douglas luiz shout as a villa fam i do have to agree. Maybe because he was so poor when he joined so its a huge improvement?Fans were clamouring for him to be praised like KDB for his assist against Luton. What i would say is his defensive numbers will be lower as Kamara is the main anchor (when he's not injured). Also i think he's great at being the player who provides the assist to the assister. But otherwise, yeah overrated but most at Villa. Havent seen it from other fans but may just be from my interactions.

Problem these days is footballers are judged by their price rather than their actual quality. Dougls Luiz is a very good footballer, but as soon as you start talking about 80-100m for him he suddenly doesn't look that good anymore. So you have players judged on something they dont have any influence on, like the money their club asks for them and the money other club is willing to pay.

I have a few players who for me have always been crazy overrated. Defense: Meunier. Psg, Dortmund 60 caps for Belgium. Basicly bad in everything for a full back. Probably not rated any longer but always hated how Dortmund got him as Hakimi replacement. Midfield: Phillips. Even at Leeds he wasn't good. English quality inflation. Attack: Vlahovic. Looks like a great striker, has the ego of a great striker. Sadly he isn't. Bonus one is Rashford. His shooting is world class. But basicly all other things of football are spectacular avarage.
